I've never had this problem in JK2, but I am having it now.
When I host a dedicated server, I can't find it on the Local section. Also, when I host dedicated, I can't seem to find ANY servers ANYWHERE. How do I host my own dedicated server and be able to join it? In JK2, it appeared in the "Local" tab, or I could join via IP. In JKA I can't. Help, please! :(

Hey in JKA they won't allow you to run a dedicated server and play it at the same time unless you do a certain thing. Create a new shortcut to Jedi Academy MP and right click on the icon. Click properties and then in the target bar there should be the directory of the game in parenthasis. Space once after the parenthesis and type this

+set net_port 29071

When you do so you should be able to view the dedicated server you set up by starting up MP the regular way. Hope this helps!
