Plain and simple, I want your opinions on the following things. Please give me reasons behind your beliefs. I may or may not post my standings on the matter. I just recently resigned from such a topic on another forum because it was taking up too much of my time writing replies. I've just grown curious about how the people of the Academy view Jesus, especially after seeing MINDofSIN's profile pic.

Your beliefs regarding him.
- Are you a Christian? If so, why? Oh and if your an agnostic, I would rather this conversation stray away from a long debate on whether or not the truth on the matter is knowable. For this topic the term Christian should be applied to someone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and who has committed their life to Him.

Who was He?
- This includes who do you think He thought He was. If you state that He thought Himself to be a prophet, give me reasons. If you state He thought himself to be God, again, give me reasons. If you state he never existed, you best present evidence on the matter because that is easily refuted.

What of his Resurrection?
- The most important story of Christianity, without this Christian Faith is in vain. Refute it or Defend it. Please make sure you are actually refuting it or defending it, and that you are not just making empty comments.

I do not want an analysis of Christianity or religions in general. I do however want an analysis of Jesus Christ Himself, be Him man or God. I've said this before, and I'm going to say it again, do not make empty comments. Oh yeah, and be civil. The last thing I want is a flame war between believers and non-believers.

Courage is in us all, even in you ;)

By the way it is not merely having courage, it also requires you to have virtually no life.

I'm reading a very interesting book called Bloodline of the Holy Grail, by Laurence Gardner.
I'm not an expert and the author's authority on this might be a bit dubious but i'm intrigued nonetheless and think a lot of the things he writes are true.

Evidence....well ask me for an example of one of his theories and i'll tell you what he writes ;)

The book is about the holy grail, which is a bloodline rather than a cup. It's the line of Jesus, royal blood that has produced kings like Arthur, Charlemagne, Constantine the Great, the Stewarts etc.

The book is based upon a very plausible theory that Jesus and Maria Magdalena were married and had children. Thus, the Davidic Messianic line was continued, also in the line of Jesus' brother James, Joseph of Arimethea who went with Mary Magdalene to Gaul and later to England were he founded the Glastonbury Cathedral.

All there is of proof is either destroyed, or forbidden by the vatican

Take the fifth (I think) evangelion (spelling?) for example
it exists...
but the Vatican won't allow it
since it probably contains the truth about what happened
the church calls is blasphemy!

Evidence?
I'd like to think so!

and a proven example:

In the Middle-Ages
the church was so bloody corrupt that a second religion, the protestants, were formed.
You're not gonna tell me that, while the church was corrupt, and only the priests were smart enough to read the bible, so why not alter something that would work for their own good
of course they did...

You're not planning on telling me that everything that is now in the bible, was also there before the middle-ages?

There were things added and deleted
no doubt...

But then, this is only my opinion...

Ulic, you keep claiming that the story about Jesus was altered. I'd be interested in the proof you have of this.

The fascinating of being able to speak to people from all over the world is being to speak to people all over the world :) And there are more things in this world than starwars.

Paul did change Christianity, and how Chrisitanity was viewed. Unfortunately, since Paul - the typical 'view' has changed. Christians are shown to be 'goody-goodys' and almost like arrogant snobs. Now yes, there are some people like that, but I most certainly am not. And as I said before, I make mistakes - who doesn't.

Paul did change early christianity, a lot.
What do you think of the papal tradition and don't you find it very sad that there were so many popes who oppressed the people and enriched themselves and murdered where they could?

Right, I'm a Christian (Pentecostal). And I am a Christian because I wholly believe what the Bible says. Down to the last letter. Why? Because I have had personal experiences of its truth, and personal experiences of healing, and God, etc. In fact, I used to be deaf - totally deaf - and God healed me. Make of that what you wish :)

Please, don't get me wrong - I'm not a stuck up arrogant little idiot (although I'm sure some of you think that), but I rather value everyone, whether they like me or not. Being a Christian isn't easy, and I find that I lose my step regularly, as some of you will know - I get angry, annoyed, et al, just like everyone else. I am far from perfect. But I believe, that by Jesus' resurection, I can be made free from my sin (that doesn't mean I don't sin - as I said above :)). I don't believe in judging or condemming anyone - that, in my opinion, is up to God. What you do with your life is between you and God.

I'll make future posts here as required :D Or as I think of more to say :P

I too believed that, but it is not Biblical at all. You see, when I was a youth I grew up going to a Catholic Bible study class I believe at a very young age, went to church a hand full of times, but I rebelled once I was old enough to start asking questions that no one could give me strong answers too. I started thinking about things on a worldly scale and I told myself Christians are wrong for believing the whole worlds going to hell because they don't follow their God when they all have God's of their own. I was so upset with that. But later in my life, I started asking more questions after praying to God about a few things and seeing results I was not expecting. I wondered, "Why did they refer to the Bible as being the Word Of God when it was obviously written by mankind?" That too was one of my questions that made me boil but it changed. My anger turned into curiousity and I started wondering just what did the Bible have to say about everything. So I went out shortly after attending a church and bought for myself a Bible and soon after that, I found a radio station that had Bible reading programs, Bible Study programs, and even a live open forum where questions could be discussed on the station. Well, my knowledge of the Bible started growing at a very fast pace, most if not all of my questions about things were answered, and I learned very sad truths but they are truths from my Bibically base beliefs anyway. From what I have heard, and I am very ignorant to this for I have not studied other religions, other religions have no payment for sin. When mankind does something wrong, most if not all who have not had their senses dulled for whatever reason feel bad or have some sense of remorse after doing something wrong. That fits very well with what the Bible teaches. As far as the churches go, there is a whole list of things that most if not all churches do that they shouldn't. The Bible shows us God's long suffering, but as with the nation of Israel His patience runs out. And with Paul and His zeal, yes he was converted by Christ's spirit as are all true christians and that is why a great deal of them suffered and died for what they believed in. He didn't change the religion. He brought light to the old testament by the power of God. All the old practices of the old were signs pointing to the things of the new testament. Christ was the fulfillment of all of the old ceramonies and pratices that never truely paid for their sins. The old testament even tells them that those things didn't but they believed they did and thus didn't truely believe in God. His Word must be followed very carefully with His spirit showing us exactely what He is say. The Bible is just a book without His Spirit opening our spiritual eye and ears so that we can actually see and hear The Word of God.
