I already posted this on the JAK forums, but at Ashley's request, I will post her statement on here. "Hey...my comp was banned from all JA related things the other day. But I want to tell you what happened. My cousin was... under the influence (his name is Andrew, I think he said in the game) and the password was saved on JO so he went in, and started laming people I guess. I don’t know. But I understand how I got in trouble for it, but do I deserve to be banned from the JA? I mean there’s really nothing I could have done, I can’t take off the passwords of the JA because it’s all... you know how JK is, it’s not consistent, it saves passwords, sometimes you join a game with a name you had months ago. Well anyways, I don’t think I should be banned because it really wasn’t my fault, I told him not to do anything like that when I first joined, but that’s about all I can do, I got mad at him, and I know he won’t do it again. But I think it was unfair for me to just be banned forever right off the spot without even a chance to explain. That’s not very fair at all. I had no chance to explain anything, whoever did it just jumped to conclusions without even getting the story and I feel that’s really unfair. We should be allowed to discuss banned members of course (what kind of censorship will forbid talking about former players?), but I think Buzz suggests we keep this discussion relative to the issue at hand, and I tend to agree. Oh bringing them up is fine. But when you're bringing up the example of those that have been let back in only to prove that they should have stayed banned,its not a good argument to allow someone back in. Something else to remember is that a lot of other people have been banned in the past few weeks. Where are the petitions begging for them to be let back in? Would any of you honestly be doing this for someone who you haven't even known for a week if they didn't have that photo? Another point is that Jacen has already given probably more evidence and reason for the banning than has ever been told before. Don't go bringing up previously banned members. Loaf was allowed back in about 5 times too many. And honestly everyone's opinion in this doesn't matter. The JAC's get the say so here and its not a democracy or a popularity contest. Just because you think someone deserves another chance. And even if this person were given the chance to be let back in it wouldn't be after just a few days of being banned. This person deserves no special treatment. The IP caused a disturbance on the servers. It doesn't matter whether it was the person who is a member of the academy or not. Because if it wasn't then they were essentially guilty of giving out the server pass and allowing a lamer to get on our servers. I think enough was said in here. Now all JA members know why Ashley has been banned. There is no need to keep posting comments about how Ashley was or wasn't. Ashley's gone for our greatest pleasure. Wow - I'm away for a short while, and there's a member causing problems..... The one thing that it would be nice for people to draw from this thread is the way that JACen presented his evidence. 1 - Gave a physical link so that people could have a look at 'Ashley's' posts 2 - Stated what he had found, and what actions he had taken. ...and here's the kicker.... 3 - Didn't get emotional or judgemental. If you post something like an opinion on anything controversial, follow this way to do things because it: A) Covers your ass - All you have done is provide facts, not opinions - it's opinions that cause spammy and inflammatory threads. B) Doesn't give others a reason to get angry. All you've done is put forward things as you see them, rather than saying, 'OMG ****** n00B! - BANN HER.' That don't help anyone. It is true that the thread JACen linked to gives a VERY bad picture of Ashley's honesty. I can't see how anyone can disagree with that. You could only argue with JACen's interpretation of it, that the dishonesty then leads to Ashley's story being highly unlikely (although I agree with his interpretation, LOL)...however, I think he has been more than fair by leaving the TS and IRC avenues open. One thing that I forgot to mention. I belive that having someone like friend or relative using your computer without your permision is perfectly possible. But to belive on that excuse I need to trust this person character . Witch in this case I don't. Taking on consideration things like: Her post on aquiring JA illigally, and more important the way she reacted when other students told her that was not allowed here. Her posts on being a n00b and that she never played video games then going online and woop butt. And the way her so called cusin acted on the server, using game functions that take some time ot install (like the kill traker and the binded names). We all know what kinda of attitudes they have and how they conduct themselvs. As for letting somebody onto you PC unsupervised so that they can mess around, if this is true, then 'she' obvioulsy has no concept of value. And if 'she' was telling the truth about it being her cousin, then how did 'she' let that happen? Simple solution to any problem: Don't put yourself in a position where ridiculous events such as this could happen to you. Well said Solo; I support you in this. Who the hell cast this girl in gold anyway? Why can't she keep control of her own computer. Since when does JK2 or JK3 store the server passwords, I have to type them in every time. I have 2 game players (more sometimes) in my house. You have to have a password to even log onto my computer, and if it's a different account you can't even access my "sensitive" programs such as games that require passwords for network play. I'm not a rocket sceintist but just from reading that message I don't believe it. The sad part is that i've heard these same excuses from recently banned members that want me to help them get back into the JA, My brother/friend did it; I didn't know that they were on my computer. This kind of stuff is seemingly becoming a fadd. The best thing that we as members of the JA can do is don't endorse it. One of the recent bans was a buddy of mine. He did the same thing and got the same result. It's called INTEGRITY and RESPONSIBILITY people. I happen to think that this place is for a type of serious gamer that wants a group of friends to play with, that won't cheap shoot them left and right, will help them when they ask, and will generally respect them according to how they conduct themselves. I joined this community for those exact reasons. The bottom line is that Ashley is GONE. It's the council's decision and they have made it. I think the answer is pretty obvious and perhaps that was just a rhetorical question. Personally, I also think it was very unlikely that Ashley was a girl.
