Single Saber vs Staff - Blocking The Staff

A few weeks ago, a member of the Academy wanted to conduct an experiment in fighting crouched. We tried all the combinations of sabers and an awesome thing came to light. The single saber blocks very effectively in the crouched position. It was most effective against the staff, to our surprise. I began incorporating a crouched attack into my moves and started whooping some serious booty with the single saber.

I think, not 100% sure yet, that the staff undercuts the single saber in a standing attack. Most people are aiming below the hands, so the block hardly ever happens. When you crouch, the opposite thing happens. The single saber undercuts the staff on the attack and blocks standing attacks on the defense. Give it a try, I'd like to see if my hunch is correct. Let me know what you come up with. Remember, you have to still be squared off with your opponent to block as in JK2.

Sup,

The only problem with crouching single saber is that is deters mobility.

The two attack you are now very open to are lunge and overhead. both do immense dmg when ur crouching, its a good theory just watch for those and ull be alright.

Try it, see what happens. The crouched staff scissors attack is very blockable. I've done that move so many times and it was blocked by dual and single. The problem many are not understanding is that blocking does happen, but it looks as if the game is sometimes messing up. Often a forward attack is not blocked because the game is not compensating for lag like it should. It needs some tweaking, but don't be afraid to try things.

Just one question: what do you do if the staff user crouches as well ?

As a staff user, I try to make rotating swings while crouching and it works pretty well...

Woot! Go the blue lunge spam!
But seriously, that's one thing that I noticed right up with JA, the blocks are almost non-existant. I hardly ever successfully block, and most of the time when I manage to get a block in, I get hurt anyway lol
