Urban Terror Mod

What are people's thoughts on siege. Its not quite the gravity center of activity. Is it that JAhome is so exciting that there is no reason to go anywhere else or do you find something missing?

Has anyone seen a mod that has game pacing similar to urbanterror for JA or even JO? I was thrilled to hear about siege, but was disapointed when I actually played it. It felt like spawn, craziness, die. Repeat. I really like the concept, but I currently dont find it much fun.

UrbanTerror is far more immersive. The game noise level is much quieter. Sure you have large fight zones, but it seems they are interspursed with many more smaller scuffles. It causes you to worry and look over your (ingame) shoulder when its too quiet. After a few good games, you find yourself scanning rooftops on the way to the quickie-mart.

Maybe the answer is in the current system. With new maps and adjusted server settings, I think seige could be one of the greatest games.

1. Speed up laser blasts. Their travel time on long shots is too long.

2. Maps need primary paths and secondary paths to create the dart-n-cover feel.

3. Damage increased? Headshot should be dead, but its more to make sure if you stand out in the open - you wont be standing for long.

4. Find out some way to handcuff the jedi, preferably through the mapper's talent. I think the most "real" experience I have had in JA was sneaking around in siege and seeing a jedi round the corner, see me and pull out his saber and stop. I thought, "oh shit".

I'm just worried that unless you can see em coming from a mile away, they might be untouchable. Hopefully a mapper has enough tools to counter this, because that stomach drop should happen when you face a jedi.

I've been playing single player again this last week, and thought "man this is fun". There is tremendous room for skill development in JA, but I wish there was a reason to work with another class. Don't get me wrong, Dueling is the greatest, but an alternative to the saber-filled rooms would be nice. Its like the climax of the movies and nothing to differentiate it as such.

OK. A couple questions:
1. can laser blast speed be adjusted?
2. What program do people map in? Can you build something in autocadd or Max? I should use the architecture schooling for something.
3. In case other methods fail can you increase damage by weapon?
4. Are there any mappers in here that could answer a question or help w/ complex stuff?

The Biggest Question: Does anyone even care about this enough to pull yourself out of the duel line to give it a shot?

Guys, you've only begun to see how cool Siege is. Part of it is that the Radiant JA stuff is not out, so there aren't a bunch of new Siege maps. Right now there are only three Siege maps, and I only like one of them (Hoth). The potential of Siege has not even begun to be tapped.

You could make a Siege map that's the opening battle in Episode IV--the Imperials blast through the doors of the ship for the epic firefight in the corridor, and the Rebels try to hold them back long enough for the Princess to give the plans to the Death Star to a droid and let the droid escape.

Right now all the Siege maps are fight fight fight, but they could do a lot more with vehicles, and the new engine is a lot more sophisticated vis-a-vis triggers and stuff (I've heard there can even be ICARUS script in MP--is this right?), so you could actually have much more complicated interactions with the environment in a Siege game.

Siege is about achieving objectives, so an interesting map would have both furious combat and interesting interaction with the environment. How about a series of doors and switches that open and close according to some pattern, the defenders able to block out the attackers only as long as they can outsmart them? How about a HUGE murky cavern with a series of columns that you can jump from one to the next? How about an airlock that a player in the right place can push a switch and flush everyone inside out into space? How about a Mastermind-type puzzle (remember the game Mastermind?) to activate a device?

Any story you can imagine can be made into a Siege map. The three that exist don't even scratch the surface. I like Hoth the best, but even that just whets my appetite for more.

I think that would be a cool mod. Although I'm speaking more of correcting percieved flaws within the existing universe. I think some minor tweaks and some great maps could make the difference between good ideas and good execution.

i complety agree , and that for ctf and siege , how about a mod, the medievel mod, so 1 saber is a sword , or axe , and the staff , would be a staff ,or a double bladed staff , or 1 blade , and hthe duel
would be a sword , with a short sword , or two full sword's , or whatever.:alliance:
