Just a slight problem I am having with attending classes. Normally I don't know if I will be able to attend a class more than 2-5 hours in advance and that is really starting to kill me. Why? Because when I DO look at the class schedules then normally the only classes I would be able to attend are Learner Trial Prep classes or J-Man Trial Prep classes, and most of the time even THOES are full ![]() ![]() ![]() Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem that I am having and if anyone has any thoughts on this. _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. |

There are other ways to work out points, Sared. Go to whatever classes you can, full or not. See if you can stay and learn when you have the chance.
The instructors do have ways of giving points to people who just show up and fill an empty slot from somebody who signed up, but was a no-show. The best thing you can do, as far as ascending your rank here at the JA, is just hang out, learn what you can informally, and demonstrate that your a good guy to hang out with. Other things that help are a healthy respect for the rules of the academy, and showing that you have a healthy respect for the guys that your hanging out with. Points will come, especially with patience, perseverance, and a willingness to work with instructors and councilman. I want to earn the rank myself as well, so I understand you want to get the points your need to attain your goal. Lemme tell ya a story though. Late last night I was on with Nightcrawler, a knight and trainer that I have come to like and respect. I asked him to help me with part of my duel skills that I feel are very weak, and we spent most of the time on the server working on that. The last part of the time he was on, we talked a little about my rank. When he found out I was still a learner, and soon to take my Journeyman test, he asked if he could evaluate my knowledge and skills. So I got an informal J-man test last night. When the test was over, Nightie told me I was more than ready. Earning that praise meant alot to me, as much or more than attaining a higher rank. The respect and praise earned is really the true point of the ranking system. Lots of the guys here seem to treat the rank system like the highscores on a video game. They want their points. They do just exactly what they need to do in order to acquire that. To me that is a great waste, and a dis-service to what the JA stands for. If you really want to attain the true value of the ranks here at the JA, then don't worry about the points system. A Knight will be recognized long before he is one. ![]() _______________ Death is only the beginning. This comment was edited by Kalheka on Jan 30 2003 03:39pm. |

I understand it is supposed to be about learning but learning has its own rewards. I am not saying that I am all out for points alone and not learning, but earning the points would be appreciated. _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. |

Well I was trying to make a joke but my point was this: What's the point of the JA? Is it points or learning. Now do you understand my point or are you still just stuck on your points? hehe _______________ One of the Belouve boys |

Because you're learning how to play the game. ![]() If you attend the class I see no reason why you shouldn't get the point. _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

What do you mean you don't get the point? If you don't get the point of the class then why are you taking it. _______________ One of the Belouve boys |

The problem with that is even though you may be able to participate in the class then you will not be able to get a point for it. ![]() _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. |

If you really want to take a class that is full you should just hop on the server and ask the Teach if you can attend. If there are only like one or two people who do this, the teachers usually don’t mind. _______________ One of the Belouve boys |

Problem is, if I end up NOT being able to take the class then I might not be able to get there in time to remove my name from the list. _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. |

I know what you mean. This is what I do. Sign up for all the classes you think you might be able to take, then later if you find out you cant take them, just remove yourself. ![]() |
