here a little riddle, made by Daidalus  You can solve it with pure logic On a planet far away lives 2 kinds of aliens. blue and red ones. and there lives a philosopher alien who is very strange. He makes in his hole life only 2 assertions: 1. All what i say is a lie. 2. I am blue. Which color has that alien? The answer is not only the color, explenation is needed here. Ant there are no tricks like hes is violet  have a lot of dun! Smily... you asked "Why would a person from the truth telling city say that the lying telling city is the truth telling city?" He wouldn't because that would be a lie. If you reread the question I posed, it is actually the truth teller saying what the liar would say (Which city would a person from the lying city say is the truth telling city?). The whole purpose it to create a positive answer from both parties. Think of it in math terminology... a negative times a negative is a positive and a positive times a positive is a positive. The question above creates a scenerio in which the liar is lying about lying, and therefore saying the same thing as a truth teller. ummmm question bandit. Why would a person from the truth telling city say that the lying telling city is the truth telling city? That doesnt make sense to me. DarkSith, here is what I would ask: Which city would a person from the lying city say is the truth telling city? If the person is from the lying city, he would lie and point towards the lying city. If the person were from the truth telling city, they would answer honestly and point towards the lying city. Aww man! I'm good w/ brain teasers, I wish I got to that one quicker. Makes since though....................... I've got one: (kinda like the last but a variation.) If there are two towns, one city everyone tells the truth. The other, everyone lies. You come to the fork in the road, but you don't know which way to get to the "Truth Telling City". That would necessitate that the second assertion would have to be the truth in order for him to meet the condition of sometimes telling the truth and sometimes lying. Since the first assertion must be a lie, and he can neither tell the truth all the time or lie all the time, then the second assertion must be the truth. Otherwise he would have told two lies and all he had ever said would be false, thereby making the first statement the truth and creating another contradiction. There is no way to know. The first statement cannot be true because that would be a contradiction. Therefore, he must be lying about everything he says being a lie. Since we now know that not everything he says is true, nor is everyting he says false,it is determined that he must sometimes tell the truth and sometimes lie.
