Ok, this is the deal. 20 some-odd years ago (1978) my aunt, who was 13 at the time, was brutally murdered by 2 teenagers because she "got on their nerves." They stabbed her 22 times, slit her throat, and then ran over her with a car as they left. The two teens were caught and sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole. Now, our state governor (Governor Ehrlich of Baltimore, MD) has decided to reduce the sentence of one of the "damned" to 45 yrs. My grandmother received a call about it last week and since then we've contacted every news station AND America's Most Wanted's John Walsch, to try and stop this event from happening. Another part of this "protest" goes towards Ehrlich's secretion regaurding the subject. Please feel free to give me your input on the subject. Tell me if you think the girl should be freed after 25 years. Would you want her to be if it was your family? Do you think she has had enough time to rehabilitate or is she socially screwed for life? Hammurabi was a great leader... but, since they were in jail for over 1 year, they are considered felons... thus they cannot get a job easily... Who would want to hire a criminal??? I'm sorry to hear that.. but you can't become a criminal in the process of revenge... No, a parole board technically has absolutely no say whether or not she is released. He sentence was shortened, so no matter what I do or anyone does, the girl is out in 3 years. She can be released tomorrow if a parole board says she's good enough, but even if she violates parole her sentence would only last another 3 years. The only way to stop her from being free is to either frame her or kill her. Lobbying and all that bullcrap will only put pressure on our Governor and maybe get him out of office, which is our secondary concern. But the girl is free no matter what. Well, BBJ, I have to say I disagree with you on the idea that lobbying and legal action is a fruitless endeavor. If your willing to throw away your life by taking the actions of which you speak, then why not at least try everything in your power to prevent her from even being released? I speak of intense lobbying efforts and legal action. Sure you might go in debt incurring the costs associated with these measures, but will it really matter if after all is said and done you are in jail? Plus, just because the govenor commutes the sentence doesn't mean that she will be released. A parole board has to approve her for release. Intense pressure can be put upon a parole board by public opinion and political figures to help make sure she stays behind bars. I recommend seeing an attorney and a PR specialist. It may seem strange hiring a PR specialist, but no one knows how to get the public's attention like a PR person. I know of other situations where this was done very effectively. There is no point in getting more support. The order has been signed and no matter what the girl is released in 3 years. That's plenty of time for planning to make her life either a "living hell" or no more. This girl's life is already ruined. She'll never be able to get a job, never get married or anything. Why not put her out of her misery as well? Although it may be doing her a favor, it's "mutually assured destruction." BigBabyJesus... only one problem. The punishment wouldn't be equal to the crime in your scenerio. In addition to the stabbing 22 times, running over with a car, etc., the person has also spent 25 years in prison for the crime. Tough situation...especially if you are like me and don't believe in God. It would be great to think that there is a God who could mete out justice in an afterlife to make everything "even" in the end. However, I am not afforded that peace of mind as I simply don't believe it to be true. My suggestion is to continue lobbying and even try legal action to bar her release. Continue to contact government officials (particularily Republicans as they tend to be the staunchest supporters of harsher penalties for inmates)and try to raise support. Don't waste your time here...use it to get support from those that can really help you in your cause. _______________ Part-Time Player (Weekend Warrior). Some of you guys are seriously twisted...like Vasper. However, I too agree with Hamurabi's Code of Law. So here is the plan. The day she is released, soemone is going to be there to pick her up. But it won't be who she thinks it will be. She will be casually lured to Weber's Farm (the place of the original murder), stabbed 22 times, have her throat slit, and then ran over with a car 4 or 5 times. Then dumb her body in the middle of the parking lot copy catting the exact same murder she previously commited. An eye for and eye right? That's the only true, uncorrupt justice there is. Even if it means sinking to her level. I'd be more than proud to. That's my reason for being on this planet.
