...because the Jedi Academy has magically stopped being a training thing and moved onto a community with no training whatsoever. Was the Jedi Academy made for IRC? I didn't think so. The Jedi Academy was MAINLY made so that the people could train so they could own other people at Public Servers.. in other words.. increase JK2/JK:JA skills. So, Huxley was at the server today. One part of why he left was... nevermind.. he wants to keep that secret-ish. But the other part was because the JACs ignored all of his suggestions. And now I'm upset at the JACs. All you JACs know this story. Let me tell it again. A long time ago in the ancient oldbie days, I was hanging out with Silent Whispy at DJ's Server (wee!) Eventually I persuaded Whispy about this... either that or she was too freaked out about how I blackmailed her to show everybody the high-definition photograph of her picking her nose and sticking her tongue out. (Not really.) Anyway, I was about to become a roleplaying teacher! You better watch out Yun! WHISPY: I'll BRB. In the meantime, plan how your classes will be.  LIANIOTTE: Wee! So I was all... ready... and stuff. Preparing how everything will start out, anxiously waiting for Whispy's return. She never came back. To this day I'm not entirely happy with myself trusting Whisper. Anger. Fury. Irritation. Humiliation. Well cross out Anger and Fury, but I was definately irritated and humiliated... and DEFINATELY let down. I thought that the JACs were the most trustworthy people around. Besides, she could have even joined the server and said "Sorry but you can't be a JAT anymore" if that's the case, instead of ditching me entirely. So, what's my point? The JACs should stop only being on IRC, but joining both games' servers. Now I'm upset at the Jedi Academy. The Jedi Academy wasn't meant to be a huge IRC station, but a training place with teachers.. well, teaching. Maybe we should get JATs who can teach more interesting things, so we don't have to relearn things we've learned thousands of times. DJ, whatever happened with you talking about the JAStaff thing so I can host roleplaying stuff? DJ, you're the one that made this site, and you've been a good "friend" to me, so I'm not directly mad at YOU. I'm just mad in general. (Not.. crazy.) I am aware of the people that are going to reply to this saying THEIR opinion.. And stuff. I do not see a problem wit IRC..This is a community. Yes its about a Series of games. but still a community. A community shouldnt just be about a game. Since taht will get people bored really fast. Also carying on a conversation over a Message board sucks I would much wrather hold coversations with people over a chat network like irc. And I know..a gaming community I am part of, other than the JA, is nearly dead. Why? We strayed away from keeping peoples attention to not just the games but the community as a whole and it has just about killed us. _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. That's great and all, but at the end of the day, if the ones in authority (namely the JAC's) don't support and follow through, we are worse off than the previous day. Ok. Let's get constructive again. But first, It doesn't who made the topic, the points are valid. Second, Jello, I hate to say it, but I do not believe you are in much of a position to criticize anyones participation level. Now that the beurocratic remarks are done with (spelling) let's get on with it. I see 5667 total members. I can garuntee that of the 3462 that are active, only a few hundred (that too high?) are truly active. I hereby volunteer myself to read, think about, and accept or decline applications. That is clearly a problem. If you let them all in you need to account for more than need accounting for. Think about it, isn't it a test of will/dedication to have 'prospects' wait 1-2-3 days before getting received? Who cares if some lose interest in that time? I have seen the change from jk2 to jk3. I have not seen a change in the fundamental functions/resources of this community however(Please people, don't let the 'risk' of posting here be that the jat's will reconsider you're nomination for JAK or w/e. that's not what it's all about). I meekly propose new staff members. I see Aso's 'promotion' as a wonderful thing. That's one less thing for the JAC's to worry about. Get one for applications (only a better name), a news person (if that's effective), a resources maintainer. ect. You JAK/T/C know what you need. You have a few hundred students to choose from. Another humble suggestion about JK3 classes. We need a JAT to start a class now. A 2 hour long one or so. A class for everyone to show EVERYTHING they know. Starting with Saber_bluestance and moving on from there. That benefits both parties. Students learn, JAT's have more to teach. Let's update this FAQ. (I may be speaking boldly, but I'm keeping my place) I'm sure many will be happy to contribute. What's wrong with a 35 Q&A FAQ split into categories? I say this, and open this for discussion. It's not that we need 30 JAK's, it's that we need a smaller pool of DEDICATED students. This is NOT a clan. Not a friend finder (redundant). How about this: If a student/knight/trainer does NOT log in during a two week period, a punishment is given. Add a property to a profile that allows the pausing of an account, this way there are no traveling issues. WE NEED BLACK AND WHITE RULES!!! (have i stressed that?) for instance: "Watch your mouths. A small amount of swearing is ok, but if you take it over the top, you will get a warning." We have had this discussion before. WHAT IS OVER THE TOP? Why not forbid cursing. It doesn't just slip when you are typing it. One curse which offends someone is worth a warning in my mind. "you have to participate by our rules if you want to participate at all." Let's go by that standard. If I may suggest another improvement which will help a lot I believe. We need to more forums: 'Academy Help' and 'Official Announcements'. You can't have too many forums. You can't have too little clutter. Going back to accepting new members. 65 members per day for two days...hm...sounds like one more JAK every two days  . The individual matters, but does not dictate the course of action based upon their presence.Another thing (am I making anyone mad?  ). The JAK's are trusted individuals. Give them the ability to ban!! I've seen 7 bannings If I remember correctly, all were made by JACen. There must be a difference between JAK and JAT, but don't let it be admin powers.hm...on that subject, let's create an anti-lamer force. Let it be 3, let it be 20. The more the merrier right? They don't need admin, they need a duty. To note laming of ANY kind. To take complaints accompanied with proof. Let them be the one's to give warnings. Why make our leaders deal with that? Lastly, let's have an idea person or two or ten. A person dedicated to giving thoughtful ideas. Do you really need to be JAK or higher to possess helpful thoughts? I think not. I think the staff position is a wonderful thing which needs to be taken advantage of more fully. I'd like to close by thanking you all for this academy. You make it great. You make it improve. You ARE the Academy. -my two cents (plenty more where that came from) |

Alright let's calm down here, Jell-0 you shouldn't be speaking about a person who has been here and seen the Academy the way it was, like that, inactive twice or not. Now, we need a chill-pill. Jell-0, you got nothing nice to say to Lian, don't say it at all. And Lian did explain why she WAS inactive for two months. 'writing a big post before trying to fix the academy yourself first' Ok, you need to look at her title a bit closely dude, '-Student' what else can she do besides post telling her problems?
