Yes, I'd just like to remind all of you of one thing: Microsoft SUCKS. The new MSN Messenger 6.1 = screwed up. Sorry for not posting it in crazy, but I think it's a bit more serious than most posts in there, since they really do suck. |

Windows: What the hell are you talking about and saying that XP is more stable than 2k? 2k is the most stable windows ever! Macintosh: I haven't used a Mac yet, so I can't tell how good it is. Linux: The best OS... It owns Windows any time it wants... More stable and more powerful... Better command-line and if you're a GUI addict, better GUI (GNOME and KDE can't be compared to the stupid Windows GUI). Linux has everything you need... Even for the secretaries (I heard that somewhere); what would they need? An excel and a word; they got OpenOffice... If you say Windows > Linux it's like saying DOS > UNIX, which is something that everyone could laugh at. So, having in mind the above, M$ sucks, Linux > Windows and Mac = ??? (I dunno  )--- Ah well, my offensive comments are useless. I came back with the old me, but I want to show the new-me which will be more grown-up... Well, that "archaic command line" has more features than any dos or windows environment real or imagined. As for being difficult to install, if it's such a big problem you should try Mandrake Linux or get someone from your local LUG (Linux User Group) to install it on your comp. And Macs... well they're not so bad now that Apple is using a FreeBSD base. Even before that they weren't half as bad as people say they are. Also I find that Win2ks boot time is an acceptable trade off considering that it doesn't have half the bloat and garbage of Windows XP. _______________ Windows95: <win-doz-nin-te-fiv> n. 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor, written by a 2 bit company, that can't stand 1 bit of competition. |

its not that linux is becoming more suited for the desktop...its just that more and more nerds are flocking to it. linux is cool...but as far as giant corps are concerned...with like 10000 clients on their networks....w/ secretaries and all that crap, windows is fine. i mean...i think MS is starting to realize how much they suck and are trying to get better. |

Sup, macs suck again I hear this from ppl who usually dont know shit about macs. Pls feel free to back that up with some useful information. Microsoft is improving "slowly" XP pro is definitely more stable than any previous OS they have released. I think its pretty freakin stpupid they are writing Longhorn from scratch, just when the OS was getting stable with a pretty decent boot time, they wanna start all over. I still get annoyed that certain programs actually expect me to reboot after install, just so they can work. I like the idea that I shouldnt have to reboot unless I recompile my kernel Those are just a fee of my issues with WinBlows, but for now just for gaming I am stuck with it, although I am tossing around the idea of trying Linux/FreeBSD and winx, or just saying screw it, and start playing consoles only, they are made for gaming only and all three have online gaming so that is looking pretty tempting. _______________ Silent Bob (Kevin Smith): You know, there's a million fine looking women in the world, dude. I stopped using Msn, Internet Explorer, and Outlook on my Windows partion a long time ago. The Mozilla project has the equivalents of all three and more. I have a dual boot between w2k and mandrake linux on my machine right now. I'm currently in the process of installing winex and jk3 on it. Once that's done, the Windows partion is going to be used for mp3s and the like. You just can't beat stability and more software than you can imagine. Also the tweakability of linux is phenominal.
