Looking through the posts on this thread so far, it looks like I'm partially qualified for just about everything here  as follows:- Mapping: I've played around with Radiant a bit, don't really have it mastered yet, but can (and plan to regardless) improve. - WWW: I have a bunch of experience with HTML and some of its companions such as JavaScript, CSS, and ASP and would be able to help with the site, although I'd rather have my main focus on something else. - Modeling and Skinning: The one thing I really haven't tried yet. Don't ask me for more than ideas and/or concept art until I've at least installed 3D Studio. - Texturing: I suck at art. Don't ask me to do original textures. I can, however, easily modify things found on Google - Programming: I learned most of C and C++ a while ago. I haven't really used it for anything yet, but I've been reading through the JK3 source code and haven't found anything really indecipherable yet. Modding is something I really want to get into. - Logistics and Internal Workings: Sure, the mapping, texturing, and skinning is all you see on the outside, but you need to have a strong core too. Balance, variety, and creativity are all important parts of a good game, and I can help with all of them. This includes typing out code for NPCs, weapons, ICARUS scripts, etc. If any of that sounds appealing, post on my profile or e-mail me and let me know when to start!  EDIT: I forgot to mention: - Tolkien Knowledge: I have a strong knowledge of all of the events of both The Hobbit and LotR (including the appendices! ), so you won't need to explain to me exactly what the Ring does or anything like that. And yes, I have seen the movies.- Others: You mentioned animations on your link. indeed Ulic it would give us some more freedom so I would say let's start with 'The Hobbit' and if that goes well, we'll probably have a bigger crew, and then we could do LotR What do you say, Jonnie? Doing those LotR scenes will be very difficult, especially because people expect it to be like the battles in the films. The hobbit has fights in it, with spiders, orcs, orcs, wargs, orcs and one big end battle, the battle of the five armies. That should be interesting to create as it is fought by several different dwarf people, orcs, wargriders, eagles, elves, a wizard and a hobbit. OK, here we go. The Hobbit, I hear, has little or no battles which involve things like Orcs and Elves and stuff. If we follow the movies, then we can get a better idea of what to make it look like. It would be good to get important events and kick-a$$ scenes such as Moria, and Amon Hen. We have to keep it reasonably small, otherwise it will take long to create. Could you please tell us or me at least more about the story, for that is the most important part of the mod. May I also suggest you make some more posts about this in General discussion? Since people don't really expect to see such things in the Academy discussion EDIT: Went to your URL And of course, I have some suggestions, as always If you find a LOTR skin, always, ALWAYS mail the creator of that skin, and ask his/her permission Since I know someone who made a huge mod, and used people's skins without asking first. Now he has to contact about 100 people asking them permission... So, just send the mail as soon as you find the skin, and you shouldn't have a problem Second, about the swords... We'll need lots of different swords, since in the LOTR movies, there were about three thousand different swords... But let's not use too many swords, since swords are like skins, the more you upload them, the more the fps will drop... The mapping We'll need lots of new textures for this and I've never created any So I have no idea how to do that (yet) but I'll look around The programmers shouldn't be a problem About the animations I would leave that as the last subject. First let's look at the mod making (it will btw be a Total Conversion (TC) I presume?) and if the mod is okay, then we can start to think about the animations... All you have to decide, is what to do, with the time that is given to you That kind of script That's what I'm experienced with, but then a lot more professional then I've typed it here Anyways: I'd love to volunteer for a scriptwriter (the game script, not the programmer script )and to do maps... EDIT: just thought of something I know it sounds kind of dumb, but hey ... Since LOTR is a huge story for just one mod What about starting with the book 'The Hobbit' since it started the lotr It's a smaller story, and it would be great to begin with... get my point? if we can do that then I'm sure we could pull off LOTR too _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! LOL I wasn't expecting you to do it on your own. We will get as big a team as we can on this. We will "officially" begin work on this once we have: 2-3 Script Writers 2-3 Level Designers/Map design-layout ppl 3 Mappers 3 skinners 2-3 Programmers And...I'll think of more soon Once we have these I will ask you all about how much time you have on your hands etc. and lay down an Agenda and set some deadlines We will be flexible so that the Deadlines aren't invading your private life As long as we are organised, we should be able to do this in a controlled manner. LoTR freak here I can map... I can't skin I can't mod but hey I'd love to help Anyways: My ideas: We should start with Frodo leaving the Shire, in which he meets the Dark Riders (We can use sounds of the movies I have them all, so I can rip some sounds, if you like) Second: we could make the second level something like Bree, where you meet Aragorn and set out for Weathertop, where you'll get attacked by the WitchKing of Angmar, and then a quick flight to the Ford. Anyways if you want, I can write a very basic script, I always write scrips, and I'm very experienced in that matter Anyways, I'm going to shut up now Let me know what you think here I'll check back later EDIT: Will the mod be based on the movies or on the books? _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website!
