First of all, the new G5 only a, what, 1 Ghz FSB? ASUS and Pelican both make PC Motherboards that that have 1.2 and 1.4 Ghz FSB. Also, Apple buys its 'new' 64-bit processors from IBM. In fact, I will go as far as pick on IBM since they aren't even the first one's to come out with a 64-bit processor. THAT honor is bestowed upon AMD for thier Athalon XP in all it's greatness.

Let's move on to software shall we?

I will be the first to admit that Windows may have a few more stability issues that Mac's have had. That is, with the exception of Windows XP which has run streamline for me so far. The new OSX and subsequent version's of Mac's OS is Unix. Plain and simple. All they have done is slap the Mac GUI on it and I personally take that a plagerisum. Also, from a programmer's point of view, Apple is more tight-fisted with it's source code than Microsoft is, and that my dear friends is saying something.

Also, and quite a few Mac users will agree with me on this, the majority of Mac users are quite computer illeterate. Macintosh has a user-friendly interface that borders stupidity. It stunts any growth on the end of the user in learning anything about thier computer. Imagine taking a car and sealing the hood, access ports, and make the only user-accessible part of the car the interior, and the gas cap. Now this may be a poor example, but what does it do? The owner learns how to drive the car and how to fuel it up. They are also never given any initive to work on the vehicle they own. The majority of Macintosh users are asked to mail thier computer in to Apple for service or upgrades.

DJ's comment is actually very accurate, Mac's are the BMWs of computers. Sure they are. They look pretty, are nice to drive, and since you can't afford to work on it yourself, you need to go to the dealership and/or dealer authorized service to have the thing worked on. PC's are like the Honda's (again, excuse the poor example P) of computers. They are powerful, easy to work on, you can make one yourself, and teach you a lot about how the computer works.

Also, some Mac users may bring up the claim that Mac's were used for the sound-editing process in Episode I and II. This is not the case. A much more sophisticated program, that was developed and used on PC's, was used for the sound-editing process.

And Unix did the Graphics and special effects......

Oh, and on a sde note, PC's ARE better Gaming machines. Every Mac user I have talked to has admitted to THAT. :D

As a conclusion, Macintosh's are good for the common person that has little or no experience in computers, and don't plan on learning much about how thier computer actually works. PC's are tools that help people learn more about the digital world.

I got love for them all though, PC users and Macintosh users alike. :D

edit:// Hey cmad, and anyone else, mind backing up your statements like saying: "M$ sucks! Heres why..." Instead of just "M$ sucks!" Thank you!

A metephor if you will, I could go out and by a BMW vehicle for a lot of money. I am paying for the crafsmanship handling and various other things you get with the purchase of a beamer. The vehicle is still subjuct to the same breakdowns and whatnots that happens. Now I could go out and buy two or three chevys fords or chrysler or whatever else you want. But it still doesn't add up to the beamer. Besides no one is going to changer your mind for you. You have to take the plunge and see what this is all about. I did that last year in February. I switched to the "beamer" and I am never I repeat never going back. I can't stand windows anymore. Linux vs os X I think that matters on personal preference. I am not a big user of linux but my brother is and he likes os x not sure on is real feelings though. I guess with os x there is a smaller learning curve (merely a speculation here). I plan to try it out though because I have an open mind. Something for you windows users to see what an Apple program is like would be to dl Itunes. At first I was like man it isn't so great then it hit me, so easy to use. Organizes everything it is awesome. Give it a try. You will not be dissappointed.

Windows is a rip-off!!! If companies get a degree in something, M$ has a Ph.D. in fraud! :P :D

Oh and btw; just cuz a PC is cheaper than a Mac it doesn't mean necessarily that it's worse. I don't think that Mac OS X is better than Linux.

Shadowstar, not all the computers are 2000 dollars or more, and they arent based on windows! if anything windows was based off the mac! ( which i am not saying it is:P) And those cheap pc's that you can "pick up" arent as good as a 2000 dollar mac. I have yet to see a dual cpu pc

okay ppl look.. the only real argument against a mac is the F**king price. They are great comps with incredible speed and durability and gameable. They are a hybird of windows and linux. But... they are also in 1300-2000 dollar range for a desktop. I could go pick up 2 pcs for that. one with windows and one with linux and i would have two machines comprable to the mac. Macs simply arent worth it unless you have 2000 to blow on anything u want. Which.. hopefully none of you really are that rich/dumb Macs are made for ppl who are too dumb/lazy to put toghether there own comp... They are nearly unconfigable they are what i call.. "the super expensive dell" :P so the bottem line. MACS ARENT WORTH THE MONEY and stupid ppl who hate os 10 can go suck my balls. THATS NOT AN ARUGMENT. IT IS WINDOWS BUT PRETTIER PPL! GET OVER IT *huff huff* go pc's (i am gettting a 2.4mhz gig intel ht proceser, awesome mother board/video card+ case + power supply for $400 ppl.. )

Look at it from my perspective, In order for me to test the windows, linux or other os's I HAVE to go get a special computer, no wait I don't because I can emulate all of them. Apple RULES. By the way os X is based on Free BSD so it is unix only with a great GUI.

Oh, here's a thing I don't like about the macs: you can't test it. All (most) the other OSs, you can test them. Wanna see how a Linux is; you d/l it. Wanna see how Windows is; get a pirate copy of it (yeah that's what we do here :P :D). But Macintosh? You must get a special computer.

Recently I got a Mac emulation that works on FAT32. I'll check it out some time :) However I don't think it's a really recent v of mac :/

Linux pwnz :D

No my friend what is primitive is your windows machine which is a cheap imitation all along of the Apple OS. Refer to Xavier's earlier post regarding games, software and what other trash talk crap you can come up with. Plus, you can run any peecee software on mac all you need is virtual peecee and booyah so don't tell me there isn't anything for it. In addition most developers are coming around and taking part in the utopia known as os X. I come across more and more things that I find out for os X like gnucash, and team speak. Heck, even blizzard released a patch for Diablo 2 for os X.

Their software is just primitive. There are no real good things about them. No good games. What's with the having to go to "File" then "Quit" instead of just pressing the X (or the red button which is on Mac I beleive). I find it irritating and would rather spend those precious seconds carving up Academy members on the servers. :P

Macs don't ALL suck though. They're worth it if you're into Media type things.

I'm a Hard core Mac user ALL-THE-WAY! (I'm on a iMac right now)

We mac users take allot of crap from the PC users. Most of the time, all they can come up with is: Macs Suck! I could go on for awhile WHY they are better, but I don't feel like typing that much.
One thing I will say, I don't like the fact that they cost more, but trust me, your getting you money's worth (as long as you buy a newer one[the old ones{OS8 or earlier} DO suck] )
Also, if you don't like the mouse, you can just get any two button mouse as long as it's a USB 2.0, or you can just "option click"

Sup,

Everyone makes fun of the mac mouse far having only one button, but look there is only one button and cuzza still couldnt drag and drop files from a CD, I guess we need to make it, even easier, ZERO mouse buttons and while were at let throw that damn keyboard thing out now also, as long as you dont do something silly like get a MIC for voice to text software, you have solved all of your user error problems!

Review

Computer - mouse - keyboard - mic = 0 user errors.

Oh man this is genious its gonna save those tech support ppl so much time!

Generally you wouldn't want every bit of hardware out there to be Mac compatible. That's what makes OS X so smooth. It doesn't have to support the millions of devices out there like the Windows users. It's like a model T. "You can get any color you want, so long as it's black." :) FWIW I've yet to see a USB device that doesn't have some level of mac compatibility.
