OK now I like the new map and all, but compared to the Academy version 4 and previous versions of that map. The new map just doesnt stand out like it should. Its just isn't "jedi" like I mean sure it has some neat stuff like the spawn rooms but those are bad for the server and we really dont need those types of things. The academy map v4 was a good map and still is today I say we go back to that map who withs me!!! So I want to start a poll and maybe if we get lucky enough we can have the "good" map back up and not this "spawn map" as I call it. _______________ Life is Something that Happens when You can't Get to Sleep. I think the new map is AWESOME!!! Even though it's not done yet. And I can't say that I hate ANY of the maps used by us (don't forget Advent 2). I was on the JK2 home server with the V2 map and experienced a bit of nostalgia. But, it's better to move forward than to stay in the past, though it is nice to visit the past once in a while. Mune's Bar is the SHIZNIT!!! i dunno. I've seen 2 or 3 different maps and I must say, I love the one for JA. The Guns castle area is great! (although, i would really like to see it built up a little bit larger on the sides) My only real complaint about the map we use for JA is the courtyard. I dont like the grass. Just looks a little wierd to me. I've played the map for JO and its nice, but is missing large open spaces for fighting. _______________ What we do in life, echoes in eternity. |

i havent seen the latest version of the new map, nor did i really love the old v4 map. all i know is that with the old maps the versions would change drastically with each one. the reason being was because we(the academy) decided that we needed a map that served its purposes of training, teaching, having a solid FPS, and still have a flare unique to the academy. if the new maps can get that done then i see no problem. but i will not deny that i do miss the old maps. they are symbolic to old memories. but i also know that if i want to play the old maps again ill just load up jk2. also whats with all the negativity with this thread. mockran is just offering his opinion. he was not insulting the hard work that was put into the new map. he was merly asking a question to see the views of others. jeez everyone is gettin so defensive. either way, i cant wait to see what the new map has. and the old maps are still the bomb mack diggity shiznits. so lets stop the hate and enjoy that fact that all these maps were made out of love and dedication to the academy (that or they just really like making maps) _______________ "We keep odd hours...." ----------------------- They Live, We Sleep |

its just a bit unfair to say the new map is bad, they havn't even finished it yet, plus they have worked damn hard on it, so plainly i think your being un-grateful, but hey who cares what i think EDIT: also theres alot of this 'the old times where grate' thing going around witch is well.. what i'm trying to say is change isn't such a bad thing _______________ IN UR FACE I'M NOT BLONDE! I also like the new map very much. It is a very cool map with features and such. If you want to go play the v4 academy map go to jk2 servers, I think they still run them. id have to agree on that soem of the rooms on the outsides left/right/down just arent used often enough and many of them have extremely small differences to another one so that map doesnt get to to big faded and virtue should cut out less used rooms |

Alright those are all good points. Heres an example of what I don't want to happen though. Peter Jackson the Director of LOTR said that the special effects of a movie should help the story line, but should not become the movie. First of all the new map isn't done yet..so we should atleast wait till the final version before posts like this. I personally like the new map....its bigger and has more rooms and training areas that will help Students and Trainers work together better. |

as Jaiko said, the map is only in its 2nd beta. there is a lot more to come. in the upcoming versions and the final release, you'll see more and more features and detail.. things that made JAv4 a good map. so just hold your horses. this map will prove to be the best map ever. period. |

Those are all good points and I wouldnt want all the hard work put into the map for nothing. How about maybe for just one day we load up the old map with the windmill and matrix room and dont forget the glass room either! the new map is great the frikin npcs or something really mess up the server today liek 20 peopel wer on then it crashed liek 3 times and now k\no ones ther idk if this has anything to do with map but the v4 was dull and only thing i miss from it is pit |

Im sorry i dont agree, the new map is awsome, the sheer amount of time Virtue and FaDed have put into it, is quite frankly .....amazing, yes detail is lacking in places and the spawns may cause an issue AT THE MOMENT , but what you have to remember is this is a working progress, we are only in the second Beta of the map....dont worry those guys will have all the bugs ironed out and having the map looking pretty in no time. Hmm, to my opinion, the so called 'spawn' map rocks! there is nothing wrong with it. It has cool features and has cool duel rooms. The bar is neat and the spawn rooms are very nice to practise dodging for example the team who made this worked hard on the map so it would be a bit rude to simply say: no, not good enough sorry.
