Those of you who have played through JK3 have probably found that there was a time when Jedi did not have lightsabers. Rather they had swords and were much like the knights of the Dark Ages. It comes up at the very end when Tavion, posessed by Darth Ragnos, uses a large sword infused with the dark side of the force. I don't. I've been training with both swords and martial arts, and although training with weights is a fantastic technique in martial arts, swords require a form of coordination and balance that is so exact, a sudden change of weight will require you to definitely retrain. That's why all forms of swords have different disciplines. Of course, it may be different in the SW universe... Just putting in my own word. |

if you have read tales of the jedi which most of you prob havent cause im a nerd and u have a life. BUT it talks about how sith swords were more powerful than regular lightsabers. this is also before vibroblades were created. its because the sith forged the blade with alchemy blah blah blah. naga sadow used a sword instead of a lightsaber because his blade had poison in it so that it would kill faster. and he did all this other stuff which made it a crazy cool sword that kills lightsabers so ya thats basically that if u have more question email me at akuma_3160@hotmail.com _______________ good luck to you in training, cause uh lets face it im the best hahahahahahahahahahha sigh i wish |

I remember reading somewhere in the rp books that back then, they had "archaic lightsabers". It was like a regular sword with a mechanized hilt generating a beam around the metal blade of the sword, used to keep the blade sharp and strong, like a vibroblade or something. _______________ -If a Jedi ignites his lightsaber, he must be ready to take a life. No KHAN....a sword and a saber are the same, the only different things is that a saber is way more powerful then a sword, cause the beam is made from pure energy instead of just iron  |

dude a sword and a saber are 2 totaly deferent things, if your used to swords, and you gonno take a saber you have to get used to it. its like a SMART and a FORD PANDA. altough there 2 cars, but drive deferent. Actually training with weights is a good method. That's why you can get weights to attach to your arms and legs. If you can run fast with weights on you'll be able to run faster and longer without them on since your body is conditioned to the movement with a heavier load. Same with a lightsaber. Your body would be conditioned to handling a heavier weapon thus you'd be stronger and all you'd have to overcome is the balance change. _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. Read better Bail, if you master fighting with a sword, then fighting with a saber is even better. And you don't hit your own arms, cause else you wouldn't master swordfighting eh Bail |

that's not true... Let's say you do a flourish (X in KOTOR) if you do that with a sword, and you happen to hit your own arm that's okay cuz it would've been with the flat side but if you do it with a lightsaber... ouch... _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! Well you have to remember, this sword was also his scepter. It was capable of absorbing force energy so this was no simple sword. There's also a chance of it being laced with cortosis ore, about the only material capable of stopping a lightsaber. And that's probably why the went to lighsabers. But why didn't Ragnos' sword broke when you hit it? If it has the same effects as an lightsaber why the hell did the Jedis start to use lightsabers?!  |

Back, way before the Republic was born, Ancient Sith Lords used powerfull swords instead of Lightsabers indeed. In KotOR you visit The Valley of the Dark Lords, the burrial place of the 4 of the most powerfull Sith Lords of the Old Days: Naga Sadow, Marka Ragnos, Tulak Hord and Ajunta Pall. In the tomb of Ajunta Pall you can find his sword, which holds incredible power. In the tomb of Naga Sadow, the leader of the 4 Sith that were burried there you can find his Poison Blade Sword, which poisons everyone that touches the blade. here's the part of the timeline dealing with the beginning of their galaxy up to about 5,000 years before ANH. In other words Hyperspace, Jedi, That should give you some insight to when stuff occurs. Lightsabers seem to come into existence about 10,000 years before the Galactic Civil War.
