I've recently discovered that while everyone else is improving at JK3, I am the only one to not improve (even become worse) over time. Now, I know the JAK+ ranks are supposed to be based on skills. I'm beginning to think I shouldn't have my rank, especially when there are so many others who are better than me. Does anyone else think maybe I'm wasting everyones' time when someone better could be promoted in my place?

NO!!!!
like Luke tells me every 2 days, being a knight doesn't just involve skill, its the attitude and support you give to people! But skill is a part of it, I don't think its the most important part, because EVERYONE can improve!

plus you rule, so i would shoot you if you stepped down :D

Silk,
If it makes you feel any better, the one training sesh (not the making of the JADD commercial:P ) I had with you, I learned something. So, I don't think you're wasting your/our time at all. If you need to take a break for a little while, that's totally understandable. Only you can decide what you need/want to do, and whatever you decide to do, I'm sure you'll make no enemies.

I'll just beg you to not leave like my last Master had to.:(

*gets on knees and begs Silk not to leave permanently*

My theory ...

Silk was feeling a little down and needed some cheering up and a confidence boost, hence he posted this knowing that no half reasonable JA member would say he should step down.

But even if that was the case it worked very well you should stay JAT :)

EDIT: oops sorry miss voted ment to say no obvioucly :(

Silk it doesn't matter if you suck or not at the game, as long as you enjoy playing, and you have something you can teach to people, like your demolitions class or something. I don't think you should step down.

Well, in my eyes the JAKs and JATs are not only skillful fighters but upholders of the peace and teachers. They're the ones that hold the JA together and keep it from falling into (total :P) chaos, and they're the ones that set examples in terms of behavior.

So if you can't win a few simple duels but can set an example for the other members of the JA (JAKs and JATs included), then you're not wasting space. :)

Alrighty, I hereby declare myself to be taking an official-ish break for an undetermined amount of time. I'll still be around, but I probably won't be on the servers much.

If you can teach something, and if you uphold the proper behaviour, there's no waste involved. Anybody of any level of skill can learn from anybody else of any level of skill as long as both parties are willing to learn as well as instruct.

I say No, your not wasting anyone's time. Although not a teacher, nor a knight, or heck even a paddy for that matter :), I remember a time when I was on jk2, and I, just, couldn't, get the style down with fighting. JK3 came out and it was a different story, not that I rule the universe, but I can contend with most and have fun with the game. Like the others said, maybe a break would help. Or perhaps a different style like duals or staff would be of interest? Also, don't be so hard on yourself. I've only met you like once or twice, but you fought honorably, with respect, and you showed every ounce of what it means to earn the JAT. If you feel like trying staff, and just want a basic tutorial to get the feel of it without feeling the need to snap it over your knee (I remember a time in the beginning thats all I thought), send me a holler in the profile, would gladly meet you on the server. Good luck, you'll find your groove :)

Thank you Odan Wei, Vladarion, 3th, Moridin, n00b, Motrec, Faded, Leif, and Tido, you will not be forgotten as the ones to make you remember, it's all about fun...

Hiya SilkMonkey,

I've fought you in the past, and you were a pretty respectable opponent (even though you scorned yourself for losing, totally unneccesary because it was a good style). Like Wolfwood said, JK3 is different, but not impossible. You possess the kind of qualities that people look for, regardless of which game you are playing. Always remember that.

So what if there are a lot of people out there who defeat you? There are a lot of people who defeat JAKs and JATs, period. That doesn't lessen our respect for them as good players but especially good people.

I too suggest taking a short break of a week or two weeks, refreshen your perspective, maybe you'll look at it in a different way. It's entirely possible your current feelings come from frustration at being unable to grasp the "feel" of the game, so sometimes you just need to stand back, take a deep breath, and try again.

IT is your decision u're trying to push away here.
If you feel uncomfortable, then, like Cossyc said, take a (short) break and then give it another try.

But I have too agree, too, JK3's technique moves in mysterious ways.

Of course you're not wasting time/space! JAT-hood is not just based on skill and I am sure you know that but maybe forgot it.

We all know you're a good JAT and that you'll learn JKA when you actually feel like doing it really much

Dude, I guess you may need to let it go. No, not being a JAT. Maybe you'd like to improve so bad that you just can't. It happens. Take a break, a week, or two. Believe me, after that you will be just eager to get back, and you will be amazed how easily the Force flows through you.;-)

Don't stress yourself. It's simply not necessary.
