Okay, some stuff has changed, and that's allways cool. The FPS sucking Lost Temple is gone, probably forever. I loved the look of this room, but it really was hard on framerate so I'll call that a good thing to sacrifice.
Pit also changed, no more of the accidental death by lag, great news. Water at the bottom, for flavour apparently, since there's not enough of it to swim in. Doesn't seem to affect performance at all, and if you fall this time, well, fight on. Groovy.
And now, well, noone's going to like this, but I can't stand the new pillar, for one reason, when you're standing on rotating platforms in JO, the screen jerks like mad. Throws off aim and movement too much with the shakeing.

i like everything about the new map except the pillar and the spawning points.

the pillar... well, let's just say the old one was much better for reasons already mentioned countless times.

the spawns... just need to move them so they don't disturb.

but regardless, great work! as usuall... ;)

the one cool thing i tried to do in the windmill doesn't work, practice hitting moving target...

and jvst stand on the new pillar and fire the sniper rifle, it jvst doesn't hit where yov aim no matter what...

PS the key that looks kinda like a v and is inbetween the "y" and the "i" keys isn't working, so the "v" key is acting in its place for now..

the new pillar...the "windmill" if you will. well. you dont really shake on it. it just looks like you do. look at the other person, are they shaking? no. its jsut an optical illusion. you're not really shakingand it doesnt mess up aim or anything. you have to look beyond yourself.

to sum it up:
I didn't like the old hit very much, so the new one.
I was often in the (old) pillar room, when matrix is crowded pillar is the place to be, so I dont like the new one.

I adored the lost temple, not only good for practicing strafe jumps, but jumps and acrobatics in general.
I dont mind about fsp, got helluva machine ;)
just my point. thats it.

I don't mind the windmill (new pillar) as much as I first thought. Its great for playing king of the windmill (kicking only,) and the floor space is adequate enough for at least two duels at once.

My only complaint it the spawning in general. While fighting in the council room, if a bunch of people re-spawn at once, it lags something terrible. I would love it if there were a central spawn room that was not too far from any duel area. It could be set aside just for spawning, meditation/conversation, or people who want to brb. Just an idea though. I don’t want to offend DC. Great map BTW.

Hallways
+: WOW! I can get peaks of 120 fps now running through the halls. Not that it matters much I guess.
-: Err... nothing really.

Great Hall
+: Fantastic duel area. Size is perfect, that huge pillar and it's shadow is gone, frames increased by alot.
-: What happened to the stairs? We have a disabled ramp now =/ It was fun fighting on the stairs. However for the fps increase I'll take the sacrifice. Frames are still low for duelling though. I suggest removing half the torches and pillars, and all of the false doors. Also it'd be nice if the spawns were moved to the ledge.

Pillar
+: I think that bleeding edge modern design pillar looks great!
-: The spinning. The challenge and novelty it adds isn't great enough to warrant the jerkiness and the fps decrease I think. Also the top inverted pyramid could do with some thinner struts. They obstruct view of the two wing platforms. Also, having the shape of the pillar as it is makes the rest of the room seem very bare. I'm not sure what to do about that. Maybe add some snack vendors?

Matrix
+: I notice a 10-15 fps increase, without any visible changes. Thats always good =)
-: The lighting still sucks on the mat. Although I understand that the mapper has no control over that and it's a compiler problem.

Pit
+: I don't know what to say about this... I never used it that much and I don't think the new one attracts me anymore. I can't decide wether losing the spikes was a good or bad thing. The danger factor made dueling there fun, but not dying makes it more convenient. Duels don't seperate when one falls. At least, not a straight down fall. Good job on that. Duelling in the water is a strange experience.

Lost Temple
+: I'm glad it's gone. I never liked this room anyways =/ It was good for practising strafe jumps, but in general it just ran too slow, was too big, and was rather annoying to get to.
-: It did look pretty cool, but oh well.

Conclusion
I really like this map. If the pillar stopped spinning and the Great Hall ran faster it would be perfect. I would choose this map over the old version, mostly on the strength of the new Great Hall.

Side Note
I don't think this is a mapping thing, but I think it would be great if you could spawn nearest to where you died. Currently it's the other way around, which makes sense for a FFA, but since danger to you is gone once you die in the Academy, it's more convenient to spawn close to your previous duelling location.
Maybe we can see this in a new version of the mod?

The old pillar was great, I loved to fight there. I don't like the new one either.

I agree on the temple.

I like the pool/glad(iator).

(from whereabouts unknown) yea i never did really dual in pillar. didnt seem ta be a point in dualing around a pillar or on the small top of it. now you gotta try ta stay on an dual, seems too complicated. btw i want the spikes bac!!! no one really dueled there much and it was mainly for fun(pit diving) and it was gone before i could figure out how ta both do a cool jump off the plank AND land witout dying.:mad:
