Well, I figured instead of getting swamped with e-mails, this would be a better solution for all you guys/gals to list the ideas you'd like to see in the next version of the JA Mod.

i just want two things for the mod:
ONE: a place that I can download it so i can run it with lan parties that i have. TWO: a damage scale, i can't count how many times i have run up to somone who was at the end of a rdfa and i barely touched the saber only to take full damage of the attack and thereby losing the duel, i am not saying that i shouldn't be damaged, but i shouldn't get the full 90+ damage just because i barely touched the saber and the end of their swing... _______________ Midbie Council Member #13 Padawan of SilkMonkey Stuntman extraordinaire |

I'll suggest something.... if there is some way to like autocopy from the origin command, so maybe it would be easier to get origin and then bring someone to where you are.... main reason being it takes a loooong time to type out the numbers... I mean you can just up arrow once you use tele and chaghe the name of the person, or the first few letters whatever, but then when you need to go somewhere else you gotta type that crap again, maybe origin could autobind tele to a key along with the co-ord's and you put the name at the end instead of the middle. I definitly think levitation is a bad thing for several reasons:
1) People wouldnt run anymore, you'd see all these things flying around the arenas, it's sure to cause trouble. 2) Believe me, I have done it in the alpha stages of this mod a few months ago, it was fun and cool, but rest assure, it would cause all sorts of problems. _______________ Get busy living, or get busy dying. |

the two lightsabers first showed up in the jedi mod. I personally thought they sucked because the second saber didn't really function as a separate weapon, just something in your hand. For emotes....levitate.
Sort of a sit where you are 3 ft off the ground. I know Chosen wanted to put it in but thought it would be abused too much. I really don't think it will be abused any more than other emotes (like an amkiss craze of days past). _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. I would like to see spawning nearest to death location. Just more convenient for duelling. I imagine that for team maps there are designated team spawns. |

Most of the things you see in JediMod, OmniMod, ForceMod, etc. have clientside requirements needed in order for the function to work. For example: Saber colors, this needs both server code and client code to be edited in order to be used in game.
The Jedi Academy Mod's main goal, is to keep it serverside so the client doesnt have to download anything, they can just join any server. xMod is a good example of serverside mods as well as Vulcanus Admin Mod. However, xMod has moved a bit to the realm of clientside mods as well with the "anti-script" feature. I will try and look for more emotes but since last time, I found very few "cool ones" I purposly avoided putting them in v 1.0 because of that reason :/ _______________ Get busy living, or get busy dying. Can you put something in there that would make me the best duelist on any given server? Yeah that would be helpful.
Do people here really use scripts? I knew that's why I can't win a duel. Ok, seriously I think the current mod is just fine. If there are truly people using scripts then a script detector would be a good idea. Beyond that I only have one other suggestion. There is a mod (not sure which one)that shows the enemy info icon in red when your crosshair is on your opponent. I think this would be helpful for dueling classes to teach students enemy tracking. Perhaps make it so it can be turned on and off for classes. I'll try to find out what mod it's in. This comment was edited by Arcuss on Feb 11 2003 02:39pm. |

If you have the time, check out X-Mod. It's pretty good, they somehow even included a function that shows in ctf where you are! It's like

edit: why not have an extra button for cartwheel? like you move+crouch gives a roll, move+extra button gives cartwheel. dunno if its possible though...

oh i get it. So you could do a bind that makes you (example) do a yellow 3 hit combo followed by a red dfa? Not very honourable. Someone find that script detector! |

No Yub, scripted moves are binded special fighting moves. Like combos, DFA's , lunges etc.
Basically a guy that uses scripts to fight, presses a key and all hell comes loose. Doing with the press of a key what you guys take time at the Academy to learn to do manually. And that is absolutely forbidden in the academy. The problem is that it's difficult to spot and even more difficult to prove. I think it includes settings like all the emotes and stuff. Like special bits that let teh JATs teleport.
also, what does "scripted moves" mean? is that like when you bind a key to say "Good Fight"? |

J, the Academy MOD is a game modification that allows all the emotes (sitting, standing etc), admin stuff, etc. , not present on the original game. There are several mods available for JK2 but we use the Academy MOD build by Chosenone (yay C1).
MODs can run on server side, client side or both. The Academy MOD runs on server side so you don’t have to do anything to use it. In fact you use it every time you enter one of our servers.
