So I went out in my backyard and did some trap shooting yesterday with my mossberg 12Gauge shotgun, (i'm 17 and it is registered to my name) and i decieded it would be interesting to see what the ppl here think.. I own my own gun, how many other ppl own there own guns, and how many ppl would get freaked out if i brought that fact up in normal conversation -Dice _______________ Dicemaster |

Does it bother you that i'm 17 years old and I own my own gun, and could walk into a store and buy one and be out of the store with the gun in under 10 minutes (in certain parts of the United States, completely legal. Also its a shotgun, a pistol has a 10 day waiting period like anywhere else)

Personally, I could see people owning guns to fire on the range, or to collect. But to own them to damage property, or lives, would be the most horriffic, and wrong, way of using the guns, even if all of the safety precautions are taken by the gunholder. _______________ Stimpski (formerly known as DeathScythe many, many moons ago.) I own a handgun. 9mm I don't use it for self-defense, just for shooting at the range. It's a lot of fun. I saw this very skewed news feature about kids and guns where they hid a real gun (disabled of course) in a toy box then let two kids at a time play in the room. All the kids were given a brief talking to before about why they shouldn't play with guns, but all the kids played with it. One kid had been drilled by his mother to fear guns before he was ever involved in the experiment and to his mother's dismay he still played with it. The stupid thing was that they didn't show any kids that had been raised around guns and seen adults fire them. I was taught about guns when I was very young which gave me a healthy respect and fear of them. I would never have played with one if I found it. And if some kid was playing with one I would have at least known how to empty the clip for him first  _______________ One of the Belouve boys |

No problems with guns from me. Several of my uncles are proud members of the NRA and I know many others that hunt. I live in texas, where the drinking age is 12. (You still have to be 21 to BUY it though.  ) I am fairly comfortable around guns and people who know how to handle guns properly. Otherwise, if someone was being the least bit irresposible with a firearm, I would definatley be freaked out about it.  _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. |

well i do have guns but i dont actually own them cause im 16 and it cant have them in my name here but they are in a safe in my room theres nothing wrong with having them i dont think cause accdents with kids dont happen if people would teach there kids about guns at a young age so wouldent be so damn curious thats what my dad did and i never touched his guns without permission plus they were of course locked up except the defense gun which should only be used if the robber threatens to kill you bye the way or if they seem like a threat otherwise hide it under your shirt or pants or something and yea just knock them out if possible but thats even more dangerous swords are nice too i got a few in my room they could work too i guess  well i rambeled on to long i guess thats it _______________ Do not show fear for if you do you cannot claim Victory |

Once again...i don't use these guns for self defense. The guns are all in a safe, and the ammo is stored at a totally different area, the most we could do is beat the attacker over the head with them. I use these guns strictly for hunting _______________ Dicemaster |

Too bad Japan's sworn to never go in war again(except for peace keeping missions for the UN), Monthy. Now that I think about it, I shot in a club (no, I didn't go beserk with a rifle and shoot random people in a club, I mean an actual shooting organization ) when I was younger, like 10-11. |

I do not like guns. thoug its a nafty peice of help at self-defence, I do not like them. look at the wars that have fought with guns, death and decay. but then again, why do we need guns in the armies there days: bush: wtf? It wouldn't bother me, as long as the gun is used in a safe way ie not mucked around with. I come from the UK where it is hard to get a gun licence - you have to have a god reason to want one. But I have an air rifle that is almost the most powerful you can have without a licence. I don't think the criminal gun problem over here is so bad that people need guns to defend their homes and families, but criminals seem to be using guns more these days and they don't care whether the person they are attacking is armed or not. Until guns are legal over here - I will stick with swords (only on my property though as taking it outside would be illegal) _______________ Once a Monkey always a Monkey. first off i'd like to make a few comments...its not that easy to get a gun this easily in all of the US, just parts. Secondly where i come from i knew how to safely handle the gun and load and shoot safely by the time i was 6-7 years old. It is uncomman in my area of the country to not have a gun in every house hold. _______________ Dicemaster |

How the hell did he get ahold of a military weapon, that cilivians arnt aloud to have?" So yeah, my family also has a shotgun, why does my dad have that? Just because, although he rarely shoots it. I don't believe in guns for protection. The facts point to it. Ppl that have guns tend te be shot way more then ppl unarmed. If an offender sees you have a gun he will shoot at you with no questions asked. And another something. It's crazy that you can get a gun so easily. There are ppl that don't put their gun at a safe place, and maybe children have acces to them. Sure, if something goes wrong they will be punished. BUT THAT'S TOO LATE, someone has died or has been horrible wounded at that time. Here in the Netherlands almost no-one has a gun license and maybe 30 ppl per year die through fire-arms. On a country that has 16 million citizens that's not much, somehow I see a connection here _______________ Personal sleepness-nights-supporter of Virtue. I had a SAS training Sniper Rifle it fookin rocked hehe, it was a gas powered pellet gun for safety reasons in practice........ would go through glass from 1000 yards tho and was silent as hell _______________ If you add me to MSN, tell me who you are

Same here, then again... who needs a gun in Finland. I don't believe it's necessary to have a gun just to be able to defend yourself. Use a melee weapon to subdue your attacker instead. _______________ 362 Ohi on! |
