These are the Academy's updated rules and regulations. I'm placing them here until DJ gets a chance to put them in the proper place. Mad props to Hardwired and Fizz for the updating!

::intro::

These are the rules you must follow. These rules apply to all servers and areas of the Jedi Academy, including IRC. If you are caught violating these, it will result in an official JA warning. You only get one warning. If you violate the rules again you will be banned from the Academy.
These rules are not all-inclusive, so if you recive an order from an Academy staffmember (Knight, Trainer or Council member) obey it.

If a rule violation occurs, take a screenshot or make a demo and report it to the nearest Knight or Trainer. In the case of emergency report it to a Council member.

Also, these rules may be subject to change without notice.

::rules::

1. Watch your mouths. A very small amount of swearing is ok, but if you take it over the top, you will get a warning. Racist/sexist/homophobic talk is extremely forbidden. This extends to the image you use on your profile and the name you use on the servers.

You may use a nickname other than your Academy name if you wish, but if a staffmember asks what your Academy name is you will have to tell them; failure to do so will result in a kick or ban. This is to ensure that we don't get intruders on the servers.

Please stick to the English language. A small chat in other languages is ok, but remember that English is the main language of the Academy.

2. Our servers are for the private use of our Academy members and no one else. Giving out the server passwords is not allowed. If someone asks you for the passwords, you are to direct them to the server page (member or non member). If you are found to have given out the password to someone you will be BANNED from the Academy regardless of warnings.

The classes servers may be used anytime w/o special permission. If however a staffmember asks you to leave, immediately do so without arguing. Also, during the action of a class, don't join the server if you do not want to participate in the class. Should a ranked member be present on the server, ask for her/his permission.

3. The Jedi Academy is clan neutral ground. We are a place to hang out; clan activities (recruiting, clan wars, etc.) are not to be held within the Academy.

4. There is absolutely NO fighting or agressive action unless agreed upon. If someone is attacking you against the rules, don't fight back. That simply lowers yourself to their level and further irritates the situation. Tempers rise, names are called, and bans are handed out when this happens, so take the high road. If someone is bothering you tell a staffmember. If it continues, report it to a staffmember, switch to spectator or take a break to calm down.
Along the same lines, it is not allowed to attack someone while they are typing (unless the typing icon appears while you are in the middle of an attack).

5. If it's not naturally bound to a key in the game, don't do it. A custom keyboard config is fine if it makes you comfortable, but no binding combo moves (DFA, lunge, etc).
Also, usage of a killtracker is not allowed on the servers.

6. Please keep guns in the gun area (the courtyard in JK2 and the fortress area in JK3). The same thing goes for setting det packs/trip mines traps outside that area. If we catch you doing this you'll be subject to disciplinary action. The only exceptions to this rule is if the presence of guns or traps outside of the gun area is OK with everyone on the server. If someone has a problem with it, even only one person, then don't do it.
Remember that tripmines stay in place after you disconnect, destroy them before leaving the server.

7. Any extraordinary activity (such as FFA, roleplaying, king of the hill, etc..) involving guns or other agressive actions outside the gun area or any other rule violation must be ok with everyone on the server.
To avoid confusion to people joining the server during such a session, stay clear of the spawnpoint, or tell them directly upon connecting.

8. When using the NPC room (Ask a staffmember if you are unsure of what the NPC room is.), only spawn as many NPC's as you can handle and no more that 5 at a time. Use your heads here. Note that the NPC room is there for training purposes only and should only be used for that. Abusive action of the NPC room will not be tolerated.
Also, do not continuously ask the Trainers to spawn things. Ask once and only once.

9. Do not stand in doorways as this affects the fps in the connecting rooms. Make a choice...in or out.
----------------------------

::Map specific rules::

1. Vladarion's Memorial
The memorial is a sacred area for the Academy. Saber duels are tolerated in this area, but not in the direct perimeter of the memorial. You may not stand or sit on the memorial at all, nor are you allowed to saber or shoot at it. Remember, this is a memorial of one of our finest students who tragically passed away, treat it as such.

2. Mune's Bar
Mune's Bar is a place to chill and talk. Saber duels are allowed, but only if it doesn't affect other players in that area. And do NOT abuse the privacy booths.

*edit again* not anymore :D

Sponse, here's my 2 cents... Every country, no matter where you live, has an official language. Yet, in all free countries you are allowed to speak whatever language you wish. HOWEVER, official business (including things such as courts, where normal people participate) are conducted in the official language. This is so everyone can choose one language they need to know and have a basic understanding of. Not to mention that English is often considered the official language of business AND the internet. Granted, there are places that have 2 official languages (like Canada with English and French), but to be honest we don't have the resources nor is there the demand for us to translate everything to French, or Dutch, or any other language.

Also, we have everyone speak English to avoid misunderstandings, talking behind people's backs, and conspiracies. Sure that may be a little paranoid or extreme, but it keeps everyone on the same page and lets everyone avoid thinking they're being mocked in some language they can't understand. So basically the rule is staying as it is... if you don't like it... I'm sorry, it's not going to change. Your use of the word dictatorship is very harsh too. If there had been enough demand for Swahili to be the official language, or at least A official language, it would be one... but there isn't. 99.9% of the people here know english, and the .1% who doesn't either picks it up quickly or has someone translate for them

It could be added to a mod, but I see that being heavily abused, by people. So I dont see adding it.

And sure you wouldnt like everyone in the JA talking Latin, just because we all know you dont know latin. funny, isnt it ?

I would say i'm showing you alot of respect. Because i discuss it.

I'l post a suggestion for a reformulation, its not that i disagree that english should be the primary spoken language, but the way i got the impression of, is that this was more dictatorship than democracy, and personally i dont like that at all, i have manny years of leadership experience and treat all of my members as equals. Understand that i did not feel like this was the case here, and braught it up, i did not know that there was a special email for clearing up these sorts of "argues".

But il send the email there,

And Wolfwood, i would recon everyone to have to respect eachother that much, that when were that few we can speak english.

Think most of you missunderstood my intentions, or i formulated my sentences in a bad way. For this i apolegize.

Sponse, I think you are taking it too personal. Let me make a little example.

Im dutch, like Aron, Robin Kenyon, and a lot of others and you dont see us talking dutch on the server all the time because its rude to speak a language that a lot of people dont understand. How would you feel if say Aron, Kenyon, me and you were on the server. And all we are doing is talking in Dutch. We could be talking about you but you wouldnt know since you don't understand what we are saying.

That is why we have this rule. Its not ment to be discriminating or offensive to other languages. Its made so that a language is being spoken that everyone understands. Its just something you will have to accept. If you want to speak in your own language, use the Personal Message mode (aka Messagemode3).

I read a couple of these comments and i think some new students dont understand our role here. So lemme explain :D

JAK.
Ok these guys police the servers so to speak, they dont go looking and watching your everymove, they too are there to have fun but if something happens they are there for you.

JAT
Ok Us guys and Gals teach classes mainly, sure we go on the servers out of class time and we wanna have fun as much as you, dont think that we are here to boss u about, we are here to make sure everyone is having a good time including ourselfs, we dont go out to punish people they do that themselfs. We will NEVER order a student around unless they have broken rules etc.. they will be asked to apologize, if they dont they will find themselfs being kicked off the server. Rememeber JAK can kick also...

About being Kicked..... there is 2 types of kicks, there is
A) Normal Kick where u are kicked and u can rejoin, this is used 99.9% of the time, wedont like banning people
B) Kick BAN meaning u are kicked from the server and reported to Buzz/Aron so they can decide how long u are banned for. If kicked banned u cant join the server again until the ban is uplifted, dont try changing ur name etc... it dont work. Your IP is banned so u wont get back on. If u have a dynamic IP that changes and u are found back on the servers u will be in big trouble.

Anyway enough moanin and stuff this was just to clear stuff up.

So just remember even us JAK+ like to come and have fun without the hes doin this hes doin that thingy :)

Rock on Hardwired and Fizz :D

I agree with Fizz.

It isn't so hard. I even find it arrogant when I see all these people talking amongst eachother in a different language, even after I told them I was kind of annoyed by it.

When i first started playing online games, my english consisted of counting to 10, yes and no, and some other basic words.

I was the definition of noob, annoying, and "dumb". I really didn't understand a word people were saying. Hell, I didn't even know people were talking.

I have learned most of my english from communities at these. In this aspect, we even have some kind of an educational value.

Feel free to talk your own language in PM, or when you are alone on the servers, but when other people are around, you can show your respect for them, AS WELL as the rules by speaking English, like the rest of us.

Sure that's your desition but i trust that most of you guys who is in the staff of this academy lives in a free country?

Sure i agree that basic english knowledge should be an requirement to joining this academy, but outside classes and the public webpage i think its un-neccesarry to make a rule regarding language.

Peoples have brain, and those who lames and doesn't follow common ethics you allready have a rule that kicks them out..

More clear now what i meen?

Joining the academy shows that you understand basic english.

If people should be allowed to speak all of their own languages, because their english isn't "that good", we'd have to write the rules in 132 languages too.

Talking in your own language isn't strictly forbidden, but I think it doesn't show much respect when you do when other people are around too, especially when they tell you they find it annoying.

In example: When I am alone on the servers with a couple of fellow dutch people, I might be talking dutch. But as soon as someone else enters, i stop talking dutch.

Pretty much everyone in the academy speaks english, or at least understands the basics of it.
Speaking english might teach them a bit or two also.

Though i accept the rules,

i must say this looks alot like dictator-ship of controling people, regarding language, if you want everyone to understand you, offcorse you speak in english. Else you should be free to talk the language you want.

Just my personal opinion about that

w00t, they are now in place on the rules page as well.

Im glad you appreciate our work. Although there are some rather experimental things in there, like the usage of classes servers, I hope we dont have to change them too much anytime soon.

It should all be common sense, so if you guys use your heads, you should be fine. :)
