We live because our parents chose for us to live. They live because they were chosen by their parents, so on and so on. We exist to bring new human life into the world, to nurture it, help it grow so it can give life. Its a cycle that cannot be stopped. To fully live, one just needs to embrace the cycle and become part of the journey. What basically sums this whole thought up is the word Family. This is my definition of the meaning of life. I think that is why people go haywire when they are missing this in their lives due to one reason or another. Its down deep, the desire to be part of it and the desire to keep it going. The meaning of life? In order for something to have meaning it needs to be the expression of an idea. So, who determines what life is trying to express? Some would say that it a god that determines the meaning of life. I disagree. I don't dispute that many people find meaning in life through a god (whichever they believe in), but it is the person who decides what is meaningful to them (and therefore gives meaning to their life). for me the meaning of life is love. I love God, and he loves me. I also want to find that special someone and fall in love. For me, the meaning of life is to please God and to do what the Bible says. I don't neccesserily look to be happy with my life - I'm sure I never will be as I will not be content until I only have God-like qualities, which I will never have. However, I aim to have that inner peace in my life, that I have found that only God can give - nothing else can. I feel this peace regularly, although over the past few days, several things have been troubling me (which I don't wish to talk about). So what is the meaning of life? To have peace in your spirit, and to be in a relationship with God where you are acting in accordance with his will and plan for your life. _______________ Website |

I once thought as you do my friend. Problem is, we can't trust our feelings or our hearts. We've (people who want to worship the God of the Bible) got to put our entire trust in God's Word the Bible and in doing so we try to put more trust into God Himself. As far as living a happy life goes, my life has never been that happy until recently and even now I find a great deal of challenges before me. I do have this comfort that God has see each and every minute detail of His grand creation from start to finish and it's all to His glory. I don't have to live a happy life but yes that is what I seek. It's hard for me to embrace this world and it's comforts now knowing that it could be considered sin, but that hasn't stopped me from having fun. After all, I'm not saved as of yet and my flesh lust after the things of this world. I could try to restrain myself from it, but I could never pay for my sins so what's the point? I live it up without over indulging in it. I don't want to lose sight of God's mercy. That is a pretty scary thought though isn't it? Someone can be as kind and loving as no one has ever been and that pleases man just find, but how does it glorify God. Unless all of this said persons actions are done in a God glorifying way in a manor that is truely pleasing to God as when God's Spirit leads them to do as God wills. I admit, not being saved I may have a great deal of these truth's of the Bible wrong. I don't have God's Holy Spirit leading me and guiding me as far as I know. Don't trust my words but only the Bible. Life is happy for me, but is it truely happy? This life that we live is just a small drop in the ocean of eternity. What would I gain if I had the whole world and all of it's pleasures, but then die taking none of it with me and paying for my sins in eternal damnation? Koyi of course i respect your view of life but I do hope that your trying to be forgiven by god can be combined with a happy life. It would be a shame if in anticipating the after life one doesn't notice the here and now. Why am I here? The Bible tells me that God creates us all. The Good and the bad. It then tells me that all humankind are evil and rebellous towards God. It tells me that before the Earth was made, God chose those that He would save from eternal damnation. It tells how God is the potter and we are the vessels He creates. Some vessels of mercy, others vessels of wrath. If people also believe in the God of the Bible, I can share scriptures that state these facts. My purpose is simply this. To live my life in a somewhat understanding of my lot as a human. Not being able to pay for my sins and living out each day sinning more and more and more making my punishment to come that much greater. My only escape is if Jesus did indeed paid for my sins on the cross along with all the sins of those He came to save. At that time in which God sees fit, I will be reborn becoming a new creature in Christ not ever wanting to sin again being lead by His Spirit to do His will. Until then, I beg for mercy everyday fearing God and His terrible wrath which is upon us all. My purpose is to bring Him Glory. If I live a good life helping many and a murderer/rapist does total evil but yet finds God's mercy and I don't, how much more with this man love God for giving Him what he doesn't deserve? I burn for eternity while he lives and reigns with God forever. Weather I become saved or not, my life will bring God glory one way or the other. I wish for His love, but totally except my fate. I will pay for my own sins if need be. It's not fair for another to suffer for me because of my wrong doings. God I pray that you do have mercy on me though. God who spoke and brought this wonderful and complex world and universe into existance. How terrible His wrath will be. I can't even begin to imagine it nor do I want to. It's going to be super terrible. If this leads to me posting scripture, may God and His blessing to the reading of His Word. ok. Here it goes. God creates everyone with a purpose, and a job, but still gives them the choice wether or not to accept it. Though, knowing what choice they will make, he incoorperates it into his plan (but that's something else). I am not sure of my purpose, but everyone in my family, and people in my church say I have the potential to do something great. I didn't think much of it, untill I met another Christian, who never knew me. He looked into my eyes, and said: "You are going to do something great one day". So, I don't know my purpose to life, but for now, I'm here to figure it out.
