Well I have the awesome experiance of being a student for 24 hours at the time of this post...and in that time EVERYONE I have faced has been very very very very good. 1 person that did stand out however was Wolfwood (I think thats his nick). He could tear it up.

OK, I'm going to say who I personally find to be the most fun to play the game with, not necessarily in this order...

Janus is the best at not ever letting anyone call it a n00b stick! He plays staff almost all the time, very aggressive!

3th is the best at making me feel part of something. 3th is single Red most of the time, watch out for that crouched shot!

Sauce is the best at learning from others. Sauce is... well, Sauce, you already know you love Red.

Guterbni is the best at mimicking what I'm doing. Guterbni is mixed single Yellow and Red. He has called his style Vipette, which grows stronger every time we meet.

Flamy, now Ancient, is the best one hit wonder god with the staff. Flamy is strong with the staff and single Red. Watch out for his patience.

JavaGuy is the best at making a very entertaining and fun duel where I never know the outcome until the end. He's the wookie! JavaGuy is single Red almost all the time and likes to bunny hop. Respect his Mom.

Mikel Rider is the best sparring partner to find. No matter what happens in a duel with Mikel, he'll want to keep duelling with you until he has to leave. Mikel is strong in single Red, he's working on staff.

Leif has the best yellow scissors timing on me, grrr. Leif is mixed yellow and Red, watch out for his stance changes. A funny thing about Leif is that his most cherished weapon is his blaster.

Zoro is the best at showing me how awesome dual sabers can be. Zoro is almost always dual sabers, watch out for that side slash!

I haven't seen Luke for an awful long time, but I always thought he was the best at role playing his character. Luke is THE Master of single yellow, but everyone already knows that, right?

YinYang is the best non-butterfly staffer. Watch out for her deadly timing.

The list could go on and on....

 Sauce? Oh i've seen him around and he's pretty mediocre. He gets pwned often--most of the time by this guy named Guterbni :D

The community is too big to say. At best, you could say, "Person A is better than Person B"... but that's about it.

Oh, and Reino... get real. People get on you like sh*t on velcro. :P

:P Apparently, people are taking this topic to a whole other analytical level than i orginally expected (except for the posts concerning Reino...i think/hope he was being sarcastic :)). The person i mean by "The greatest dueler that you've come across" does not, in fact, have to be the greatest dueler period. I know that being the absolute "best" is not possible and my objective in posting is not to determine the impossible. All i hoped for are the names of some good players that you people have come across in your experiences and maybe to make some discoveries concerning the different styles of these successful duelers. :) Anyway, i may have misled you folks just by inserting the word "best". So, please continue posting by naming some duelers that you perceived as extremely skilled and describe their style. ;)

I agree :). I find ReinO too over-confident. A couple days ago he said that he's teaching someone moves that could PWN us (Us as in the others on the server). Whenever I'm too over confident, I'm always clumsy and jump into one of those nasty nasty scissors.

Yeah, it's exactly as n00b says. Sometimes I see Player 1 get owned by player 2 several times. I fight player 2 and easily win. Then I take on Player 1 only to realize he is much tougher to me. The fighting styles are a great factor.

What I've always noticed is that no matter how good you think you are, someone is better. I have played some nights where I think I've arrived, only to duel someone who can kick my butt over and over. Then, the person who kicks my butt plays the others I was killing and gets owned by them. Everyone has their pet moves and styles. Sometimes they work, sometimes your opponent knows exactly how to counter what you are doing. So, the best player would know everything, I suppose. I have never seen anyone who can't be beaten on the Publics or on JA servers. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you won't. Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't. :P

id saythere isnt really a "best" someone might beat 9/10 people every time, but one guy may come along and kill him every time. and maybe someone from those 9/10 people could beat that guy every time

Gonna have to agree with Jake. To say it plainly, there is no best. There is a fine line between the people who know their stuff and the people who don't, but it's impossible to compare two seemingly even matched players.

Out of all gametypes, duel is probably the hardest to have an absolute 'best for' as its the only one which doesn't solidly revolve around getting a phat score :)

Like FFA, sure someone may be better, better shot, better with sabers, better with force etc, but if they don't get as many kills in the timelimit as someone not quite as good, they aren't a good FFA'er :)

Or CTF (little more complicated as you do rely pretty heavily on your team), say you got the best gunner in the world, he knows all the routes with his eyes closed and can move like the wind, but if he can't cap more flags than someone else, he's not a very good CTF'er :) (obviously capping isn;t the only element, depends on your role :D)

You see someone dueling, I guarantee theres someone that could beat them, they may not be 'better' in the sense of the word as in more skilled, but if they can beat the good guy, he's ceases to be 'best'.

My definition of best, for anything is something along the lines of 'winning consistantly and beating all other contenders who are also considered 'the best'

Hope I didn't babble, hope that helped, hope it was interesting.....

*Edit* Just another note I got from palying poker 'you don't have to have the best hand to win the round' which related to Jedi Knight is 'you don't have to be the greatest player, just score more than them in the given time, or reach the frag limit quicker'
