oookay. After attending my first class today (which I actually wasn't signed up for, but I thought I had, so I went), I must admit I'm totally disappointed.
As a matter of fact, I think gaming skills would improve a lot if the academy just started arranging games and stuff like that, where some areas are for those who ask questions while fighting in the 'general' area. As it was now, we had some sort of a team dueling tournament, and the ones that lost first (me and one more guy) didn't get to do anything more for the remainder of the class, even though we obviously needed the training more than the guys who won the tourney (who didn't seem to need it at all). One more thing here... in the beginning of the class, we were told to do strafejumps in the corridors. This would have been fine if the instructor dude (ShadowSith) had known how to do it himself. As it turned out, he didn't have a clue, and the result was that me and two more ppl kept running in to everybody else and nobody got any better at strafejumping. I pointed this out and told ShadowSith that we kept bumping in to ppl that might need a second explanation, but I got no response what so ever. In the forum above, I'll post brief instructions on how to strafejump, glide and turn while strafejumping and/or gliding so as to not lose speed. This was just a bit of criticism which I hope was constructive enough not to pass as an immediate insult. cheers, and gun on. |

![]() I was in that class too, It was such a mess I unenrolled in the other classes I had signed up for. I think it was just way too many people. BTW, WTH is with all the typing? Havent you guys heard of voice coms yet? It would be so much easier to give direction vocally than do it by typing(hard to follow text when idiots are typing and making it scroll off screen) I think if you switched to using voice coms people would learn MUCH faster and much less classtim e would be wasted. In the class I attended, we spent at LEAST 30 min trying to get people standing in the right place. |

I asked specifically if we were supposed to strafejump, and he said yes, so I did strafejump. For those of you who don't know how, just read the post on strafejumping and gliding in this forum (you should do that, shadowsith) |

I remember that class. And I'd definately sympathize with you... if we were supposed to be doing strafejumps. Heh. The directions were to do a brief jump just by tapping the button. The purpose was to get used to the tiny jumps for the aerial attack he was teaching. I thought ShadowSith did a pretty good job of the class, though as it was schedualled for an hour, the 40 minute tournament then began when class was supposed to be over was kinda redundant. I suspect it was really optional and no one had to stay... but it felt like we had to. Anyways, yea, the people who kept bumping into people with strafejumps were kinda in the way for those of us who were following instructions. |

Benefit given. I just hope this isn't an ongoing theme, with ppl telling other ppl how to do things and being wrong about it.
Btw. Feel free to read and learn from the post I made on strafejumping and gliding. When you can do a round trip flag to flag on ctf_ns_streets in one 'session' of speed (20 seconds), you've got it down pat. When you can do it with ppl trying to stop you, you're elite. |

Don't worry pep, it gets better. There are a lot of skilled trainers out there. Hux, nofrikinfun, shannon are some of them. Don't look out on first impressions too much, some trainers are learning while teaching ![]() _______________ Can you protect me from yourself? |
