How to strafejump:
------------------
Strafejumping is really easy, once you get the hang of it. if you practice for 10 minutes you'll nearly double your speed, whether you're using force speed or not.
So how does one go about doing it then?
As I said. It's easy. I'm sure you all have been to one ctf game or another where the dudes that score to the sky just blaze past you and you stand no chance of catching up, no matter if you speedrage or not.
First, you have to learn the difference between a "jump" and a "hop" (newly invented term). A jump consumes force mana, but doesn't increase your speed. A hop consumes no force powers and if you connect a series of hops you will go a lot faster, only by doing this. Now, to go even faster, hold donw one of the strafe keys while hopping ('a' and 'd' by default). If you connect a series of jumps like this you'll go a LOT faster than somebody just using speed and running or anybody not using speed. You will also hop farther and so you can save up on force mana for when you need it. Just remember that the key to gaining and maintaining speed is to connect the hops in a chain, so you have to tap the jump button (space by default) the instant you hit the ground. If you take so much as one step running you'll have to rebuild your speed from scratch again.

This is all really easy as long as you're running in a straight corridor or around in a circle, but you'll keep running in to the walls on, for instance, Yavin if you go really fast. To prevent this, you have to do a sideway strafejump, that works like this:
When you get to the turn, take one STRAFESTEP in the direction you want to turn to. Do NOT swivel the mouse and walk forward. Then you'll have to rebuild the speed again, and you don't want that. After you've taken the minimal strafestep sideways (or in the middle of the step, actually) you turn (using the mouse) so you face the new direction you want to turn. You might have to overaim a bit, so you would turn too sharp if you weren't strafejumping, in order to get where you want. This is because of the next item on the list of "LEARN OR DIE!", namely 'Gliding'.
Gliding works like a strafejump, but builds more speed, and builds it faster. It will also take you even further than a strafejump, and this is why you have to overaim a bit. So how does one do this 'Gliding' then. Well... if you thought strafejumping was easy to learn you're gonna love this. You start of with a normal strafejump, but midair you turn your mouse in the direction you're strafing (if you're holding 'a' you would move the mouse to the left, and vice versa) and slightly up (away from you). With this jump you can cross the midsection of yavin in a bit under 2 hops, and still not use any force.

Questions?

Looking at it that way Carve, I'll change my statement... I believe in using fair and balanced means to defeat your opponents, but when one thing has no equal alternative, I draw a line. I'm not all about playing another mans game just because its CLEARLY the best.

It's a simple matter of opinion. It's also the reason you won't see me in CTF anytime soon. :)

Finding and using exploits is part of winning. Every style and technique is based off of exploiting something. If it isn't, it won't be successful because you will be defeated by those who -do- use the exploits.

Not imho, NFF. It's a part of the game. Now, using something like a bug making you able to shoot from your base to the opponents, that might be cheating, but I can ensure you, gliding will make your life 10x easier in instagib where you don't have speed or rage. After all, it's a tough world out there, you gotta follow the herd. ;)

lol Better speed than speed/rage and no force or life taken? Tell me this was intended for the game, and I'll sell you a bridge. :P

Honestly, I hope they find a way to patch this kind of thing out. It's kinda sad having to learn a games exploits just to be competitive in one of the game modes.

ah koool :D Yes this guy was a bit annoying but he was a good CTF player :D

On a similar note, I'm gonna hold a class on wall gliding (since I've just perfected it), as I think you'll all be blown away by it when you see it :D

To Vladarion, though I know you are in a better place - it makes me shake to think that you are not awake - when I think about you it makes me smile - i know you have gone into the clouds to head for heavens gates - you have changed my life - in an incredible way - and so I say thank you - may you rest in peace
