Demos of Classes

i was thinking the other day how its going to be very hard for me to attend classes due to my timezone, all the classes are either on during work hours or at 4am ect.. then i was thinking it would be awesome to be able to download demos of classes being taught so that people could then view them anytime. you would just need someone who would be willing to be 'camera man'.

anyone have any suggestions/comments/ideas?

aratan... the academy needs no promotion. it is free. anyone can join. we don't need to go around persuading people that we're cool. if they need to be convinced, we don't want them here.

p.s. by "we", i mean "I".. :D

and yeah phonque that would be cool ;)

Bubu, yeah i agree with you i think something should be setup along the lines of only allowing downloads of classes which you would otherwise be able to attend, so me as a n00b wouldnt be able to download a demo of advanced classes only classes like bootcamp or other startup classes

And it would be good for the ppl not sure wether to join the academy or not. Then they could just see if it was something they found interesting.

I would just like to second Bubu’s commotion. I don’t think class demos are a bad idea (if the JAT doesn’t mind) but Huxley’s old style saber class is not a good one to demo. I can tell you from experience that is a very "hands on" class. I don’t think you would get anything out of a demo of it. But other than that, sounds like a good idea.

well, not entirely..

phonque you mentioned huxley's old style class. i can tell you, from attending that class twice, that you cannot learn anything by watching a demo of it. and besides, hux doesn't allow people to record his class. which reminds me, before you start recording a class, ask the jat if he doesn't mind ;)

Pepsi: cool archive. :)

Email me the demos you want posted and I'll upload em to the site here and make an announcement on the forums. Alls I ask is you say what the class is, when it was, and who the instructor and cameraman was. Thanks!

You need a script to make a demo (well, not exactly, but it makes it a whole lot easier). I have that script (the good one, there are two), so if you want it just grab me on irc or something. I'll make sure it gets on the files section as well.

I took Skyler's Boot Camp 1.0 class and he quickly went over it in there. Not sure if other beginners classes cover it as well. I would tell you quickly how to do it, but I forget at the moment (been working on my "skills" lol).

Hola. Today I was attending a ctf class, and I demoed some of the things I was asked to demonstrate (plus some playing). I have now sent it to the file submitting email address and I hope we get to see it posted in the 'files' area sometime soon. This is actually a great idea, and it's good for learning as well. Hope ppl can put the demo I made to good use.

yeah guns are all good and well but i really only play saber only (no force if possible) and i know there are lots of other people who do the same but id really like to see the instructors and learn how to best use the saber

well... you should watch the "Pistolero" movie and I think you'll come to grips with just how useless the saber really is if you wanna kill a lot of ppl....

I think it's an excellent idea, and I'd be happy to act cameraman. This can be done even without classes, really. You can still learn a lot from demos. If you want to see some excellent movies, btw, you should have a look at www.own-age.com/vids/ if you want to see some xlnt jk2 skill.

DJ_Sith: Is it possible to arrange an upload area in FTP style for files ranging from 0 up to 5 mb so we can put the demos there?
