JK's own hosted Dark Forces TC Mod has officially been taken over by LucasArts, and will be released as a stand-alone game called Star Wars: Dark Forces Gold. Here's an excerpt from the press release: SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - March 31, 2004 - LucasArts officially announced today the exciting details regarding Star Wars Dark Forces Gold, a recreation of the classic game Dark Forces based in the Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy engine due out this fall for the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft, the PC and Apple® Macintosh. Star Wars Dark Forces Gold will allow gamers to play through the original Dark Forces with the added benefit of the modern gaming environment found in the latest Jedi Knight engine. LucasArts had recently been involved in talks with the leader of the Dark Forces Mod for Jedi Academy, Dave Turner, regarding an acquisition of the modification's progress. These talks were finally closed today, and LucasArts will absorb the modification and its team members in order to produce Star Wars Dark Forces Gold.
