For v4 i think we should put a higher water lvl so that u can swim  and put back the lost temple and put some secret passage that connects rooms...like for exemple...Pillar <--> Pool...Matrix <--> Glass...etc that would rock dont ya think ?_______________ *BOOOOM* -a d00d- what WAS that? -bubu, striker, lancer- ah forget it..its just GoDofDeAth =D |

How about making the NL server the one for maps from Academy students. I would think there's more than a few mappers here. That way everyone can have a chance to show off their work. I plan on making a map in the future and I wouldn't mind having it on display here. Just my 2¢
Kal: Your map doesn't show up in the list in my game. I unzipped it into the \base folder and I'm updated to 1.04. Am I missing something?

I really appreciate the support guys. Let's keep in mind that this isn't a competition.
I set out to make Advent because I saw a need for variety and improvement in the maps at the JA, and I'm not the only one. I never set out to compete with you, Dom. I never said I'm a better mapper than you. Your JA map does have a fancier design to it. It's not more advanced. If it was more advanced it would be fancy, and faster. It's good work and I have complimented you more than once on it's design. I chose to use a simpler design in order to make a map that functioned well on as many machines as I could. To put it simply, I put the needs of the Academy ahead of my own desires for the map. Wasn't better framerates the major point of JA 3? Let's please not lose sight of the fact that it's the needs of the Jedi Academy that we are trying to meet here. Your a good mapper and a credit to the JA, Dom. 1. Run the current version by yourself on your server, check frames.
2. Go into a full server or near full and check your frames. 3. IF you don't see my point still, then I'll just add that the architecture of the Jedi Academy is far more detailed / advanced. More complex use of brush work in order to provide a sense of believability of the surroundings. I agree, 8 sided rooms are very easy on the frames but it does lack the atmosphere. Btw, the MAIN thing that is killin' your frames are all the custom models on screen. Refer back to 1 and 2. -DC _______________ I build the walls that keep you within! |

That is the thing. Kal's map runs better for me when he hosts on his pc, than the currnent JA one on the server. I would love to see Kal's tested on one of the JA servers to put all speculation to death.

1) keep DC's map cuz its better, alough kals is cool 2) make outside of DC's map night that would be AWESOME 3) get a swimming pool and a divingbored with a secert passage in the drain of the swimming pool!!!!!!!!!!! that would be so increadibly cool

Why not add the Yavin Temple from the single player game, and maybe even the hanger and Base controls that is in it, then that links it to the Starwars movies and Temple fro mthe sp game..

I'd say, make at least more "outside" rooms. I know you can't make it too much bigger bcuz of framerates and such, but I'd like more outdoors!

Ideas for v4...Well we could make an extra room, filled with water, divided in half, and when you go in either side, you start a game of hydro ball. I don't know if this is possible, but it would be pretty cool. Or you enter a sort of portal, and the game loads as if you were entering a completly different server of hydro ball. _______________ Can you protect me from yourself? How about a Restroom. that way i can finally find a place to go to the toilet... and you could also keep shield and bacta in there for a quick fix. thats what i found in one server, it had a small room off to the side with a small bar, with about 5 bactas on the counter. _______________ .Lag Bro to Xanatos. hehehe put a diving board into the pool that bounces you when you jump on it. it could be a practice hydro-area.
Oh and fix the pillar problem. My screen gets waaayyy too blurry when im on it so I can't use it. i don't think raise the water level in pit room, instead i say put a pool behind one of the broken doors in the spawn room. and don't anyone tell me that theres no swimming emote in JO, cuz you swim in the yavin levels in the game, and you swim in hydroball _______________ Dicemaster |
