Hello fellow TJA members and mappers... My nickname is Ares and i have begun mapping for JKA... And i have had a trouble start but i love it. I really like to do it. Now I'm making a map in Yavin style, something like the official TJA map of JK2. But there are some problems i'm having... 1 How can i insert a picture i have in the map in the shape of a texture? 2 How can i make a room dark? So just enough light you only can see your lightsaber. 3 Does anyone know what kind of texture the Ceiling/roof is of the_academy map? I don't found any good texture for the ceiling and the ceiling texture of the_academy is perfect. Thank you very much, Ares _______________ Please Lord forgive me, for I know now what I have done... |

to put stuff in a pk3 file there are two ways First (and easiest IMO): Make a .zip file, and add all the files which should be in the .pk3 Then just change the extension from .zip to .pk3 If you don't see the extension do: Extra -> (last option, should be something like File stuff ...) -> Third tabfile -> Advanced -> Tick: Always show file extensions (the names may be a bit off due to the fact that I am not working with an English version of Windows) The next way of making a pk3 is using Pakscape Now you do: 1) File-> New 2) Object-> Import File 3) File -> Save As 4) Choose a directory 5) Type a name for the pk3 file 6) Choose Quake 3 pak (*.pk3) 7) Click Save There _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! You have to put the texture into a pk3 file for it to appear on the map. If you don't know how then post again. Oh and if you compile to check the lights, make sure you do a compile which says - light at the end that means that the light will be calculated and put in to the map If it only says - vis, that means that it's kind of a quick test, to check your textures and stuff, but that is no full-compile. So make sure you use a compile which says - light at the end to check your lights _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! Ok. 1. You mean make a custom texture? Your picture has to be 4x4, 8x8, 16x16, 32x32, 64x64, 128x128 etc size. Then you put it in the gamedata/base/textures/*yourmapname* folder, and it will be in the textures menu under your map name. 2.Just don't put any lights in. 3. I'm not sure sorry. Ask Virtue. Also check the the_academy texture set, incase it is custom. Scythus _______________ Padawan to the great Jacen Aratan! <Setementor> Scythus is a genius! Hello Ares, as per question 1 I have no idea what you mean however it sounds like something you were able to do in Unrealed’s 2D editor so if that’s what you’re talking about then I have to tell you that can’t be done in radiant unfortunately. Question 2 isn’t hard I’d use a spot light or something similar to give a little bit of light but leaving most the room dark. Question 3: Sorry I’m too lazy to go and look to see what texture is being used. And if you thought I couldn’t be any less of a help to you I’ll recommend this guys site cause that’s where I learned a few things when I started with radiant. http://richdiesal.jedioutcastmaps.com/tutorials/ _______________ "Look not back in anger, nor forward in fear But around you in awareness."
