I'm searching in the Academy things I cannot find on public servers. The most important part of this is the fact to be a place where everyone try to improve his skills but not only, attitude and socialization are really important as well.

An other point is that it's a place where we could fight for pleasure not for the results of it. Only to fight with a friend try something new (I'm trying the same yellow countering from a while :)).

Last but not the least, the whole place seems to be living. What I will say is that the academy is an entity formed from every students & JAK+ there. And I love to see this entity evolving with ideas from everyone not only from the 3-4 leaders.

Viva la Academia !!!

i totaly agree wiv what kha says, tho one thing i reali wanna get across, i think ppl may be noticin a difference in the academy, an i jus wanna say i think everyone has a job to make the JA a better place for everyone, an not to rely on JAK+ to do that but for all of us to make an effort, after all its everyone who uses the JA, so everyone should b helpin out, showin respect to the place AND showin a gd example to everyone else, an the new comers :)........SoL

I'd like a large coke, large french fries and a big mac please !!! :P

Seriously, I think there has been a lot of pressure on the Council lately. They've done a hell of a job to fix the bugs in the system and things are working out pretty well. Sure, we can always complain some stuff could be improved, but we should also take into account the fact that most of the current organization has been thought of very deeply. Thus the 'improvements' we had in our minds might have been thought or already tried and failed.

Any member in the JA that has no official position should expect fun and making friends in here. No more, no less.

Then if a member is granted a special rank or position, he must be aware of the responisbilities that comes along. Then I guess you still expect fun and making friends (:P) but you'll also have to work for the JA. The job is interesting but tough to accomplish as you'll be judged upon your acts and words, probably more harshly than if you stay a student.

When I read the rules of the JA, the main idea is 'respect each other', that's what I'm really expecting from this community.

Making this place a special haven for cool and respectful people, that don't need to be bent under harsh rules but that follow their common sense to stick to the general spirit of this place.

To all, you all must see and accept that this place is what we're making of it. If we act stupidly and disrespectfully, this place will stink more than clans shits.

Now to exactly reply to the question, I expect the JA to continue to bring me the fun and great times, to help me improve my skills at the game because this way I'll enjoy playing it. I also expect the JA to keep its special identity and spirit.

Thanks for your attention :)
Be at peace my bros and sis

Agreed... I, too, am on IRC a whole bunch of hours every day; and I rarely go to the servers. No reason :\ I like IRC, JKA and JK2 are nice as well. Probably due to exams I'm not going to the servers, because playing a game distracts me way more than talking on IRC ;) And I have to study :P :D

Anyway... What do I expect of this community? Everything I want of it, is already there. Classes? They're there. People to help you with JKA/JK2? They're there. Heck, this community is great ;) As long as ween keep everything civil, this place will be the ideal community :) Keep up the good work guys :)

I think what I want...no lets start that again...what I got out of the JA was friendship, warmth, somewhere I actually feel at home with a large family that does nothing but keep me smiling....this is not what I expected.

Whatever the problem in RL...JA will take my mind away and I'm ready for the world again.

God bless the JA

All I wanna learn is how to get out of Jacen Aratan's basement. I mean, I've locked tons of you down there and still you find your way out. Now I am stuck down here in the dark with Jacen.../me curls up into a ball in the corner. :)

I almost feel these days as if IRC/forums and the servers are two entirely different communities. There's a lot of people who inhabit exclusively, or almost so, one or the other - perhaps too many. Quite a few of the newer members are (at least when I see them) only on the servers, where, not too long ago, JAKs+ were obvious from their constant teleporting, NPC spawning, etc. A lot of our finest members, the ones who really exemplify what the JACs want the JA to be evolving into, rarely or never appear on the servers, Casual being one of many. The newest wave of promotions, as well as a few resignings (unassisted and otherwise) has gone a long way towards solving this with such promotions as Leif, Motrec, Acey, and Aratan, but there still a lot of people who think that being a JAK is great because then you start being allowed to do whatever you want on servers or anywhere. I hope I'm not sounding too preachy. :P

The point I was trying to make is that the JA is all one community, and that there should be less of a divide between the components. I have no idea what I mean by that, but someone smarter than me will probably figure it out. :)

Good idea Acey.

I don't really have an opinion when it comes to the specifics, like behaviour on the servers, or the enforcing of admin powers etc. I don't play the games almost at all anymore, and I have found my place here among my friends, and my time here is spent chatting away in IRC and in the forums. So I have really nothing to suggest from my own point-of-view.

But. There should be a major emphasis on the fact that the Jedi Academy is a community above all else. Somehow I see a lot of people (who prolly won't admit it) striving to go up on our "rank ladder", ie. wanting to become JAK or JAT. Sure, that's the essence of human nature, striving to be better and get more power. But that is a fallacy that has to be corrected. Too many new students (and older ones too), upon entering this place, view the JAK+ status as something to get to in as short a time as possible. Wake up guys! The Academy is here to unite people with a mutual love of the Star Wars universe! We are a friendly community, that is the sum of all its members. I really would like to see that emphasised so that the students upon joining would not be disillusioned to reach higher and higher in our "rank" system, but to aspire as a student, and when the time comes, be nominated to be a JAK.

It is quite a hard thing to get into, since the human mind works independently. The utopian concept of "all living together, as equals, in harmony" is a most difficult object to achive, but setting it as a goal is never a bad thing.

Have fun! Don't take ANY pressure whatsoever in making it "to the top"! Meet new friends! Socialise! Respect others, and accept their respect towards you!

Viva la Raz...Academy!
