In the vein of DJ Sith's "What are you listening to right now" thread but with the printed text instead!

People still read, right?

Ahem, well at the moemnt I'm rereading From Hell by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell. Great stuff, much better than the movie of course.
Also I just polished off Day of the Triffids and The Chryslids both by John Wyndham, from back in the day when they really knew how to write apocalyptic sci-fi.

Cheers

Right now I'm reading Dragonball, and enjoying it big time. Maybe it's not as pilosophic as LOTR or something, but it's damn good entertainment...

Michael Moore is cool. I picture him being the kind of guy who plays games on the internet 24/7 with people he's never met but considers them his friends...lol...loser...

Wait...that's...me!

*ahem* I also suggest you read his book.

If you fancy a good laugh i would recommend two writers (not including Douglas Adams who i also recommend):

1. Terry Pratchett (discworld novels) - the man is a genius what more can i say
2. Bill Bryson - very funny man

Funny you should mention Arthur C Clarke, YubYub as I'm reading his "When The Earth Was One". Despite the naff title its actually a very readable account of the history of communications. I recommend it to people who are interested in that sort of thing who want something that is not highly techinical and entertaining.:D

I'm reading X-wing: Wedge's Gamble right now, and can't wait to getting a new NJO book. And of course there's the always-present Lord of the Rings. Maybe I should read it in english next time?

OK, apart from star wars novels (which rock). I thought the "Rama" series was very good. Can't remember who wrote it now though, i think it was Arthur C. Clarke. Of course, the whole 2001, 2010, 2061, 3001 series is also cool.

Have'nt read any Dune books though.

If you find it, read "Anvil of Stars" by Greg Bear. It is cool. It is the follow up to a prvious book, but te name escapes me. I read it about 6 years ago.

The Dune novels are by far the best science-fiction novels of our age - the original ones by Frank Herbert at least.

I would also recommend Terry Brooks, i am currently reading The Voyage of The Jerle Shannara - Isle Witch (book one); one of his best in my opinion.

Oops. Made a mistake there. Iain M. Banks wrote the books (e.g. Player of games, Use of Weapons) way back in the 80's but they were released in my native language in the late 90's.

If you haven't read Banks' I suggest you pick up a book at your local library immediately. IMO he's one of the greats authors with Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Frank Herbert and Philip K. Dick.

I haven't read much since I got a PC.:D I usually just read Computer Shopper or PC World when I'm having my morning coffee. Out of everything I've read so far, Hitchhiker's Guide is at the top of my list. I've also read Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams too. A long time ago I read a series by Raymond Feist(?) called the Riftwar that was really good.
