Who has one set up by their ISP? (Internet Service Provider) I was just wondering, since I never have heard about one outside of the European Union. Anyone got one? And if so, how big? Those of you who think you have no limit, you are almost certainly mistaken. Okay, DJ pays megabucks for a big pipe, so he doesn't have a limit. But almost all ISPs have a bandwidth limit. Most customers are unaware of this because it is buried deep in the fine print and also because it takes a total porn freak to come anywhere near exceeding the limit. Seriously, these limits are huge. _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |

I know of a variety of places that do this. Most of them are Wireless services, though, the type that you connect to through an antenna on the roof. They'll cut you back if you pass the limit. its not a rip-off Gradius. ISPs are charged for traffic they produce, not for bandwith. and if u are on kazaa, overnet, donkey and bittorrent and uploading and downloading like a mofo, you create extra costs for the ISP, and those are passed on to you. if you cross the limit, u gotta pay more. usually a LOT more. _______________ One of the Belouve boys, founder of the mighty FiZZsters Midbie council #20 - Fizz - #1933 - Jan '03 - Aug '04 "Renfield, you idiot!" |

Pretty much all ISPs have bandwidth limits, but it's usually in the very, very, very fine print in the contract. And it is usually asymetrical--the amount of data you are allowed to receive is typically many times greater than the amount of data you're allowed to send. _______________ My signature is only one line.
