Hey guys n' girls! I usually don't post this kind of thing, but I feel that it has to be done.  Ok, so like, this morning, I was on the Home server. Some guys were FFA'ing in the bar area of the map. Now, being a Knight, I have to kinda step in, and make sure that any rule infrictions (intentional or otherwise) are dealt with. From the Jedi Academy Rules... Mune's Bar: Mune's bar is a place to chill and talk. Saber duels are allowed, but only if it's part of any extraordiary activity (also see general rule 7). And do NOT abuse the privacy booths. So, I asked these fella's to please take their wee battle to somewhere else on the map. Myself and another Knight on hand were accused of stealing everyone's fun, and just trying to flex our admin "power". Now guys, it may seem like this some times, but we really are doing things for the benefit of JA students. We have a thorough Knight selection process to make sure we don't have any self-serving idiots wearing a JAK tag. I shouldn't HAVE to do this, but I feel I should explain my reasoning for the aforementioned event with the fighting in the bar. The bar area of the map is used as a "chill-out" area. People go there to get away from the fighting. Now, let's say you were FFA'ing in the bar with a few pals. Then, put yourself in the position of someone who goes into the bar, so he can chat to someone peacefully, and gets sabered. That's really, really not cool! I know that if I went to the bar to chill out, and got "lamed", I wouldn't be happy. That's why myself and the other Knight from earlier had to step in - to assure that the bar was maintained as somewhere to go n' get away from fighting. So, if a Knight, Trainer, or any member of the JA staff asks you to do something, please do it - I promise that there's a very good reason for it! Also, if you believe that you're being treated unfairly, or being bossed around by a member of the staff, then report it to the nearest member of staff. If you can't, just drop an email to Buzz or Aron, and they'll sort things out for you. Remember - we, the JA staff, are here to make sure your experience here at the JA is a GOOD one. We want you guys to learn, and have fun! However, we have to maintain and enforce certain rules to make sure that everyone has fun. So please, just remember - we're here for YOU! Thanks!  -Mike! |

Yes it is important. Good job Mike, your not just a pretty face are you. People, if you really feel the need to fight in Munes Bar, or spawn 237 npcs, you can always create your own server, seriously its not that hard. Well put Mike. I've always found it best in any situation (being RL™ or in game) to just follow the authority without question, since usually anything else just gets you in trouble. Even if what the authority tells you isn't right (though this will rarely-never be the case in the JA), if you follow it, you're not in the wrong. Indeed. And everyone should always tell entering people if anything extraordinary is going on. (FFA sabers only in the main hall, jousting in the main hall, fragging at the fortress heh, etc.) We don't want people getting confused. Yay Mike! *cheers* The reason why the JA servers are so cool is cause you don't have people laming, dragging NPCs all over the place, deciding that you should have a few rockets to dodge while you are practicing your techniques, or any of the other rules that the JAK+ enforce. BUT then when you want to go dodge rockets and kill NPCs, ect, there is a place for that and people who will join you for fun in that too. All this = cool. |
