heya guys, i was thinking about an intro movie for the jedi academy, this is what i've come up with Jedi Academy Intro Movie: First of all we start off with the famous: In a galaxy far, far away... Herein will be explained how the academy started, what it is etc... (ne1 who is interested in writing this part?) Then we start off with a flight through the academy map and then for the real fun part: All the ranked members will be introduced Here everybody with a rank does his favorite move, filmed from different angles.... (i need demo/movie l33ts for this, and the cooperation of all the ranked members ofcourse...) i'm still strugling if we need to show a kill or just the move... but we'll figure it out... All this goes accompanied with some music ofcourse... (idea's what songs we should use?) and then to end it: a line up of all the ranked persons (if this is possible, dunno if everyone can make it at the same times) followed by a text like: Always dreamt of becoming a jedi? We make it happen Join The Jedi Academy now and make your dreams come true www.thejediacademy.net nb. this are just the things my brain produced... hope you all like it.... Great idea, but I think maybe getting a reservation on home when someone in spectator mode comes on and records a bit for it showing what it's like being on the academy's servers. Reason for reservation: Some people may not want to be recorded.  Or act it out, which will probably ensure that it goes right. But if your making a The Jedi Academy Movie....sign me up! |

There is no reason why a bunch of people can't make different movies about the JA. Why should people not do what they want to do/are interested in, just because someone else is doing it too? Go for it, make movies. All I ask is that you don't expect them to be official. I have my own ideas on how a JA Intro movie should go, and I'll be looking to get "Actors/Stunt Men" soon. - Virtue.  _______________ Academy Architect |

Hey you guys, I thank you all for your comments like I said, this is only my short-sighted brain has come up with... I like the idea of the timeless plot sex could be a problem with a JA movie I guess, 'cause Jedi aren't supposed to love  and the problem of ranks coming and going is also a big problem. The start of the movie seems to get everyone's approval though... what about instead of doing an introduction of the ranked members something like: Single: some single moves introduced: Single Saber Dual: some dual moves introcued: Dual Sabers Staff: some staff moves introduced: Staff Force: some foce moves introduced: Force CTF: some CTF moves introduced: CTF TFFA: some TFFA moves introduced TFFA and so on for all the gamemodes we play.... _______________ Get on your feet and do the Funky Alfonzo! |

I'd like to see it have more of a timeless nature. It should be a movie introducing people to the Academy and its ideals, not to the particular personalities who happen to be here at the time the movie is made. If it's a movie emphasizing particular people, it will mean nothing after most of those people are gone. Or almost as bad, a sort of mythology will grow around those "original members" amongst people who never knew them. A really timeless JA movie should never have to be "updated" in order to make sense to new members. If you make a Flash movie, the site could set a cookie so that a person only sees the movie the first time he comes here, unless he either clears his cookies or explicitly clicks on the link to watch the movie. [edit/addendum] Oh, and another thing...If you want it to have a sort of timeless nature, well, what do all the classics have? I mean the classic works that have survived the centuries, the Illiad, the Odyssey, the works of Ovid, all the greats. They had a lot of sex and violence. Yeah I'd also like to point out that ranks change. And not to mention if you wanted this as a splash page...well...everyone hates splash pages . Rather than an 'intro movie', what you might consider is doing a movie similar to the ones at Own-Age for the Academy. Would be a lot of work, but would be cool . |
