Okay, so, with the recent bannings in the past month or so, and with everyone asking "why," I've decided to make this list of reasons a person would be banned from this awesome place. 1. Complete and udder disrepect to the community and its members. 2. Strong offensive language, whether it be constant or one incident. (This can be racism, religious remarks, sexual harrasment, foul language, directed towards everyone or just one person, etc.) 3. Disrespect to Vlad's Memorial. (Attacking it, fighting in that area, public announcement using foul language directed towards it) 4. Constant bumping of old and/or useless posts. 5. Laming and/or disrespecting the admins and students on the servers. (See #1 and #2) 6. Rejoining servers after being temporarily banned before the temp-ban's time limit was reached. (Temporary bans may include breaking one or all of the server rules. See #10) 7. Clan recruiting/wars may not result in a ban at first, but if it is continuous, it will. 8. Repeated disruption of classes. 9. Lying to the admins and staff when asked a simple and specific question. 10. All of the above. If I left something out, please, let me know and I will add it to the list. These are the simply the causes for bans I have seen in my time here at the JA, and I made this so there is no confusion. That's where the word "constant" comes in. Recently there was a student, who I'm not going to name, who was bumping very old threads, which caused either Buzz or Aron (I forget which one) to threaten is with locking the forums from the students. Now, after being told to stop about 5 times he finally did, but had they continued I'm sure their account would've been disable from the forums so he/she couldn't post anymore, basically banned. But other than that, yeah, chances are you won't be banned for bumping old/useless, threads, but I'm sure it IS possible, so that's why I listed it as a reason. _______________ - Proud padawan of Kueller. - We really are at the beginning of it all. Also highly subjective as to what's a "useless" post, and why not bump an old post if someone thinks it relevant to what's going on now? I suppose someone might make a habit of incessantly bumping threads he's not even participating in just to bump the more current threads off the page, but has this really been a problem? If it has, it is so rare that I have never even heard of a single incident of it. Of course, if someone does start spamming bumps, and if it's obviously just for the nuissance factor, we can ask them to stop. And if they persist, that falls under the category of extreme disrespect. But I'd really hate to see rules micromanaging how people post on the forums. The general guidelines we have now are more than sufficient, especially since most forum problems stem from the simple offense of blatant disrespect/rudeness, which is already against the rules. _______________ My signature is only one line. Gradius isn't making policy here, what he's doing is giving examples of why some people were banned. Learning from other people's mistakes if you will. Though I believe that our rules are very easy to understand, and you know when you are breaking them - there is very little room for misunderstandings. |

Nice list there Gradius. Spot on the target. The rules were written and re-written several time to reflect all that is the academy. And to break them on a repeated basis is a plain slap in the face to all that work. Just be a decent person and you will get along fine here.
