Good evening, everyone. Tonight I bring some unfortunate news. I've recently learned that a former student of ours, Dante Valmont, passed away while studying abroad in Greece. Dante joined our ranks in 2003 and was an active duelist, RP'er and storyteller. Our condolences go out to his family, his friends here at the Jedi Academy, and his friends abroad. |

Sad news. Read his obituary, interesting to see that we both went to the same university. Never knew him personally, but we did share a lot of late night saber battles; what an index finger on this kid! Hope heaven has T1. Peace to you and yours! |

DJ and I found out about this recently, and spent some time confirming this information. Unfortunately this happened in April 2008, when he and another student were hit by a car on a sidewalk in Greece. He didn't recover from his injuries, unfortunately.
Dante was massively influential in the way a lot of the most highly regarded instructors in the JA played the game, and was by his own right one of the best duelists in this community. He had a very cerebral approach to the game and helped train numerous people despite never having became an official instructor here. When I first the met guy we didn't get on, but later on we became pals and had some great laughs together. Unfortunately a lot of us lost touch with him, and it was very hard to accept this news. Best wishes to Eric's family and friends. We'll miss the big Greek bastard. |
