Not to toot my own horn, but I comment on everything anyways...
I'm appreciative and humble of the praise I've been getting. In my efforts to respect the heirarchy that we have set up, I feel that I shouldn't have Padawans without being a JAK or JAT. I already have several requests (some have been unofficially honored). So, to be blunt, and deviate from my normal humble nature, I do feel that it would be wise to consider me for advancement, in light of some students pursuing me as a master. Again, the operative word being CONSIDER, not to be read as "Promote me because I think I'm great and you damn well better agree with me!" Plus, I only expected to be J-Man by Thanksgiving, and a Knight by Christmas. This is so that I don't advance so fast that I miss the fun of getting there. But I will gladly train those who are either wise enough or foolish enough to think I have something to teach. The wisdom or foolishness depends on what you want me to teach. If you want to learn moves from me, you are a fool, since I'm not that good. If you want to learn something about life, about yourself, then you are wise to ask me. I'll teach you something that may last long after the Academy has gone. (which won't be for a long, long, time). If you seek both, you are also wise. So, that's my commenting. Take it as you will. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Yes, I did take courses in each of those areas. But no, that's not where I draw them from. I'm good at understanding such items, and I just have a good mind for these things. Most of what I learn, in truth, comes from my heavy studies in my faith. I don't feel this is a proper place to discuss faith and religion, so I will leave it at that for right now, but I do have e-mail and I do respond to it. But I must be honest and say that that is truly where my wisdom and strength comes from. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Hey, just wondering, did you take a cours of Psycology/Philosophy in HighSchool/University? Because just when i was reading some of the things that youve said, it all seems connected to Psycology/Philosolphy (i hope thats how you spell those)

Well, Iaido is a rare form. And it emphasizes the skill that comes from drawing, because your fatal blow is delivered upon drawing most of the time. Else, it just cuts their throat, and you finish them off in a RDFA-style.
But I am also on the ks server. I met you there a couple days ago and complemented your pic. But sure, take me aside. Now that I'm Journeyman, I'll spend less time training, and more time just dueling (the two COULD be the same, but some might know what I mean). _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. Oh Neat
So Iadio (Aikido? i havent heard of Iadio before.. sounds interesting) and Kendo... I have experence inthe Martial Arts (in Ottawa :p) The ones that I participate in are Karate and Brazillian ju-jitsu However, I have taken part in some Shaolin (Kung fu) and some Kobudo classes. some say i;m a natural at kobudo (my parents) because i;m always carrying around a stick (or i was), and I like the flowingness of kung fu... the Dragon and the Leopard are my favorite forms... Ive become obsessed with the sword, as i told you before. It seems that most of the skill in the sword comes from drawing, not from moves once its out of the sheath, which i though is where most of the fighting would take place.. but i;m wrong. Thanks, i'll see if there is a kendo school somewhere in Ottawa... thanks again Vaughn _______________ When you become an actor, you become the person, and you dont act anymore. My picture is coming...
Soon you will see the visage of my true self, of a great Jedi....or just a wanna-be-great-Jedi... But yes, that scar on my right forehead is real. It initially cut deep enough to leave a mark on the skull. And the artery in the head is right there, so it does get that red sometimes. So they injected the anasthetic INTO the artery, all of it came right back out, and I had stiches without anasthetic. I was 2 at the time. I remember the whole thing... _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Well, Vaughn...
I started out learning the difficult form of Eishin-Ryu Iaido. This is a stance that is purely reactive. One draws their sword in such a manner as to deliver a fatal blow to the opponent's weak spot. By reacting to an enemy's own attacks, one can defend by attacking where they are open. With this diffucult technique, I have learned Shihoto Sono, a technique for defeating 4 attackers coming from 4 different vectors. It is quick and direct, dispatching them in around 10-15 seconds. Unfortunately, this is a very quick, very lethal art. Hard to show off, as the whole point is to use one swing, one kill. So I went to kendo. Most of the Jedi techniques are based on kendo, at least the first 3 movies. By mixing Iaido with Kendo, I got a lot more skilled. Eventually, I had enough skill to just watch the movies and copy them as much as humanly possible. (In the desert scene, Episode I, Maul just uses basically the same 3 moves, just mixes them up, and sometimes he spins left instead of right. Watch it in slow-mo, it's amusing. "Yep, there's that move again, and there's the other one, again, only to the left" Basically after 3 1/2 years, I was able to mimic techniques from Star Wars, and I also created two of my own moves, named the Dambreaker and Parting Wind. So, I actually suggest starting with Kendo. It's easier to pick up than Iaido (of course, I went from advanced Iaido to basic Kendo, so it was easy). If you live in or near a city, you can easily find classes. Iaido is hard to find classes for, I learned it on my own with one other friend. Hope that helps you out. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Seems as though some people look up to me, thanks.
Here's a lesson that I spread to a few, and I'll post it here: I know often times I say that there is more to the Academy than winning or losing or rank. That there are things beyond our skills, much more important things in life too. And we worry a lot. Then I thought of the "Let go of your feelings" line. With as far as I have come within life and the Academy, I realize that most of the time, I let go of what doesn't matter and focus on what does. And feelings always distort that at times. So the lesson: Feelings are like the icing on the cake. It's a great thing, but an all-icing cake, while tasty, often makes one sick. So one needs to strip away the feelings of love, hate, jealousy, fear, and look at the "cake" that one has. Mine is often a burnt, lopsided loaf, but with lots of frosting. Realistically, no amount of frosting will save a burnt cake, and it doesn't get very far. Same with us, if we simply throw our feelings into things, it doesn't get very far. That core of who we are, what we value, and letting go of trivial things, THAT is the thing that matters. Mind you, don't neglect feelings. But it is merely the surface, the icing. It is important, like icing, but not so important that it is the only thing. So, those wanting to learn something from me can look at that. You can see where I've gone in life, because I've had a good core, with decent balance to feelings. When one sets aside their feelings and applies themselves, in life or the Academy, one can harness something much more than the Force. Hmph. I should stop before I end up living on a little swamp planet with a walking stick and bad grammar. Yoda speak, speak like Yoda, many times we did, hmmmm? Now to get me some cake....with LOTS of icing...wait, not TOO much icing....yeah, that's it... _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. Congratulations on passing the Journeyman trials! It's interesting to note the Ligttech saber. We used to have a link to them in our menu. Our original leader JediSith999 bought one and was nuts for it! I was about to get one, but layoffs kindof changed all that. We took the link down because ppl thought lighttech was paying us. No problem Ulic. The hole point of The MLA is to entertain. Either being at the academy or at the IRC channel.
Sometimes the atmosphere gets too heavy at the JA, wich is one of the reasons that lead to some of the incidents we have been having lattely. Thats when the MLA makes an aperence. There never was a dull day on the servers whith the MLA present. So anything you can add to his story that would make it ritcher please be free to do so. By the way, The MLA as recently aquired a loyal sidekick. Oh, and to add to my Doobie award, few know this:
I am actually a ranked Samurai. I have spent some of my time training to actually DO some of the Jedi moves, and I have done shows. (hence the Lighttech lightsaber, high quality stuff). Added note: I have trained heavily fo 4 years now, so this isn't a simple task. And, the RDFAs do look decent if one can get their legs developed (13 Years of Cross-country running will get them in shape). But no, no YDFAs or nifty force stuff (wall-walk WOULD be cool). But hey, when one can shatter an opponent's solid bamboo sword with their own blows (while not breaking their own), it is pretty cool. But, I need to tone it down, as I dislocated my R Thumb with the heavyness of my blows. So I am a Jedi at the academy, and play one in real life sometimes. Bubu's right, I am dedicated. And with dedication, I do well at things. Especially national security. In Aug 2001, I submitted a paper to the military about our security and warfare doctrine. I pointed out 3 vulnerabilities: through the internet, through space, and through terrorism (my paper was better than most Majors put out, very detailed). One month later was Sept. 11. In November, they redid their Information Warfare Doctrine (internet). In March 2002, they sent me a copy of their Space Doctrine plans (not the whole thing, but enough). So that's that. But enough to brag, as I think I'm doing. Point is: if you apply yourself, you'll get where you want, whether that just be the ranks in the Academy, or anything in life. One might hate discipline, but when one disciplines themselves, they truly are a Force to be reckoned with, as close to a Jedi as one can be. I think this is a valid solution to the immaturity issues we are having. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Thanks for the Doobie Award, but I might lose it for this next part, goes out to all the Jedi out there:
When a prescription has the red label that reads: MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS ALCOHOL MAY INTENSIFY THIS EFFECT Do NOT drink alcohol! This seems obvious, but I made that mistake. 1 Glass of Sake. 20 headaches. So little ones (and old), learn from my mistake. Maybe this is why I hit that Gungan. Hi all,
Just thought I would leave a journal entry dealing with my RL person. I told massadoobie about my after-college job option, and he thought it was sweet. What is it? National Security Analyst, Foreign WMD Division Basically, I will look through material (most of it classified and I can't tell you about) and write reports on a county's capabilities. Pays well, and I love a job where I can't answer the "Honey, how was work today?" "Sorry love, I can't disclose that." Heh. I already had a Secret clearance at 19, so I knew fun stuff. Was interesting that I knew tons about nuclear warfare, but the gov't said I'm still not old enough to drink. Hehe. So I'm studying a lot towards this job. Also, I suggest to pick up one of those lighttech lightsabers. I got a T-900 with yellow blade. As if I didn't think I WAS a Jedi already. This thig will definately make you feel like a Jedi. Just cal the guys, when you hear all the stuff that's not on the site (like upcoming sound modules), you'll need to change your pants. I will also be posting (once I get the image done) my own picture. Will have me in Jedi robes, with saber, yellow blade. It's not the lighttech saber, but it'll do. I'll even try to toss in some lightning. So heads up for that. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are.
