Ulic, you are the chosen one!! You will bring balance to the force and to the academy! You are just great!
I wish you anything you need in order to pass this trial and continue to serve the academy like you do. I will NEVER look down on you. It just is not possible. When you do make Knight, can I train under you for a while? I have been nominated for the knight trial myself but I need more training. So I would be very very grateful if you let me train with the great Ulic Belouve! Your trial falls at 5am for me, but I will be there! Good luck my friend and mentor, and may the force be with you! _______________ make install -not war |

OK, I am getting close to 100 comments (and I have something planned for that one), so I will make all this into one comment....if you asked me anything recently, it'll be in here...
*meditates for a moment* Ok, for the Knight trials, I really want it to be a true trial. I want it to be honorable. The thing is, placing my humility aside, I am really liked here at the Academy. People like my attitude, from those on top to those on bottom. So I'm well-liked. But am I skilled enough? I had one JAT say long ago that I was a shoe-in for Knight. I don't mean to insult him, but WHAT THE HELL DO YOU SAY THAT FOR? Knight is not a shoe-in thing! It diminishes the meaning! And I say this so that I don't just "walk" into being a Knight. If I make Knight, I truly want to be carried there on a stretcher, because I gave everything I had to get there. And for those who want to rush to Knight, for the title and prestige, that's not what Knight is either! I'm not in it for the title. I am in it for what is right, not for me, but the Academy. THEY, not I, think I would be good for this. It is through their consideration that I willfully decide to take this trial. I will not be hurt by failure, but I will give it all I have. If that does not make it, then I need to gain more to give. To even begin to give so much, one really has to center themselves. I am here for service to others, which is what the Knight should be all about. This is what ALL your actions should be about. How does a certain action best serve others? I know it may be hard to see sometimes, like it was hard for me to see why I needed to keep slicing Blade Knight in half when he couldn't get countering. How did this best serve others? Well, Blade Knight rocks at countering, worked hard on it. Maybe I had something to do with that, maybe not. But don't look at some rank or being some Padawan because it serves YOU best, or so YOU feel better about yourself. How does this serve someone else? So I might succeed, so I might fail. But I'm taking this trial, so that it serves you. I feel my success or failure will serve the Academy, so it makes no true difference. This is what one must learn, that even being little, even being a constant failure, even in not accomplishing what you had planned, you can still be valuable. This is if you do it to serve others. I doubt any of you will, but should I fail, don't look down on me. If I fail, this will maintain the integrity of a Knight being something truly special. I will work harder, and work for you all either way. I don't plan on failing, but I also don't plan on passing. Confused? Well, I plan on serving you best. If that requires passing, great. If that requires failing, it's also good. Now, to talk Padawans. If you haven't picked up on my theme for service, then you really shouldn't bother asking to be my Padawan until then. If you DO pick up on my themse for service, then you really shouldn't bother asking to be my Padawan until then. Another confsion? And again, something else up my sleeve. I serve all as best I can. I will teach when that best suits this service, and if I need to take a Padawan to best serve the greater good, then I will do so. But I will not take a Padawan because they ask me, and because I am a Knight. If the Padawan status is neccessary, you can bet I will take one. That all being said, I hope you like this post. I'm pretty worn out, and I will explain why sometime later. If I make Knight, I will place an important post. I hope all return to take a look at it. But thank you all, and May The Force Be With You. *walks away tired* _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. It's just a bunch of dueling for Knight. Basically, if you can dream it up, you might have to do it. So guess what, you have to be prepared for anything, like a Jedi Knight. Go figure. They really don't say what you will have to do, just what to be ready for. And like I said, if a JAT can dream it up, you best be ready for it.
Hard to train for, and you really just have to be able to deal with anything (this is up to and including 2 on 1 Full Force). I can help teach you, yes, but Knight isn't all about exceptional skills. It's about attitude as well. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. I've decided to give a lesson in patience, as so many students in the Academy are so eager to get to the next rank. This lesson in patience can really extend to all of life as well, and I encourage you to use it beyond the Academy. This goes primarily to those who have asked to be my Padawans, but all can learn from this (that goes for you JATs and JACs...yes, you CAN learn more. ;Þ)
You've obviously taken note of the advances in technology, since you ARE playing online. You probably marvel like I do at all the great things it can do, but never take into account the drawback to such technology: the price we pay in patience. C'mon, I microwave my chicken wings in 7 minutes because I can't wait 25 to do them in the oven. I e-mail my campus friends because it's quicker than trying to hunt them down and talk to them. How many of us can find an instance where technology has made us impatient? So we are quite the impatient people. Everyone involves themselves in things prematurely. Kids drink at a younger age, smoke at a younger age, date and have sex at a younger age. Mainly because everyone is just so dang impatient. We can't wait to get the good stuff, to "grab it all now". But we've lost sense of the principle of seasons. The role of spring is different than the role of the fall, and in the same way, each of the seasons in our own lives have different emphasis and focus. One season is not better than the other, each one holds it own unique treasures, the autumn leaves, the winter snowflakes, the spring blossoms, and the summer sun. And here's the key thought: We cannot skip ahead to experience the riches of another life season any more than a farmer can rush the spring. Each season builds on the one before it, each season needs to run its course. Just because something is good, doesn't mean we should pursue it right now. We have to remember that the right thing at the wrong time is the wrong thing. Let me restate that so it sinks in: The right thing at the wrong time is...the wrong thing. So look at all the students who are trying to force a change of seasons. They rush ahead in rank, not knowing the rules or discipline. Each season needs to run its course. And now look at the world, all of those who rush into something out of impatience. How many broken homes come as a result of this impatience? How many errors could have been undone if we stopped to have patience, and not force the season? And look at your own life. Heh. I laugh because you and I are both thinking of some recent instance where one rushed in headlong. Remember, the right thing at the wrong time is the wrong thing. So for the academy, have patience in many things. Patience in your rank, patience in your skills, patience with your instructors, patience with students, and patience in duels. Do not feel this should discourage your advancement, but encourage you to let your current position, your current season, run its course. Extend this patience in as many areas as you can, and you are well on your way to becoming a master of something greater than the Force; a master of yourself. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Jedi fight for civilization, because only civilization creates peace. |
