with the passing of the many torches here at the JA we find ourselves with new light to guide our way. this is something i look forward to alot. i would just like to say to all who read this i hope you take away from having read this a new found love of this place and the friends it generates. MOTREC's story (the not so quick version) well before i go into that id like to say what promtped this...i was reading all my profile posts id ever gotten starting with my first one.it was from jacen aratan who was the first face id ever seen at the JA he said "welcome to the academy mate" wow i had no idea what i was in for. but anyways here goes... it was nov 14 2003,id just purchased the game. i was looking for skins and any other fun stuff for the game when i came across "the jedi academy" i had no idea what i was in for. i had enrolled some time prior to that but never recieved my return email so i popped into the site to just see if i could get in. VOILA! i did little did i know that i would never leave. i had been having a hard time getting on the servers, mainly due to my own stupidity, but just the same still having the problem. so i wanted some live help and wow did i get it. i installed mIRC and joined the wrong irc channel (go figure) but it just so happened that jacen aratan was in that wrong channel picking up those who got there by mistake. he quickly saw how much of a newb i was and gave me the idiots guide to mIRC (which was needed) so i finally made it to the channel and wow let me tell you something it was mayhem in there. i was afraid to type anything for fear of getting ripped on and low and behold i did.some guy wrote something in leet speak that i totally didnt get, called me a f****n newb and was kicked from irc for doing so. i was like "wow" so i asked my questions, got the answers i needed and the insults i didnt need. jacen private messaged me and said "hey you need some help let me get ahold of a guy that will beable to help you out. little did i know he was gonna direct me to whom i loosely say "him". i said is he a knight? jacen replied "yes he is just like me", i asked him to see if he would like another padawan as i totally suck" and jacen did ask him and after finding out my info he said hesitantly "yes" so now im the great katan's paddy and loving it. here is my chance to become better in the little time i had for this game. and btw im just giving katan crap in the earlier little sarcastic sentences lol. so i go to my first padawan session where im greeted with a texas style dose of insults yes you all guessed it, its lackey my new pad bro. he greeted me with a duel kicked my butt lots o times, and then made me feel good about losing. what a guy  then i met my next inspiration for using duals "kool aide" this bro was another duals user who showed me alot him and i would play sabre throw tag all the time and carried it to our profiles aswell.then i met monkaiman heres a guy that goes so far out his way to make you feel at home that he dam near puts himself out in the effort.(thanks monkai you rock bro!!) so i met most of my pad bros that night and heard my master all upset as his other ones did not show.so i learned how to die with grace and honor that night. i had gotten handed my head a whole bunch of times and when i got mad i got the guidance i needed to overcome the stupid feelings of embarassment from all of them. how i met teamspeak (wow what a mistake that was j/k  ) well im on the servers doing like the guys i see today,(no offense by this its just cute to me) im spamming the ranked members for duels. i challenge this knight named virtue first as he wasnt sitting down and seemed ready to lose, boy was i wrong i got my butt handed to me like only virtue could and then i say "gf" and i see virtue saying his infamous ja laugh "HAHAHAHAHA" im like "what the hell i know i suck but your rubbing it in" and he said "nah its not you mate its the guys here on ts" so i say "may join that too? and if yes how do i?" so after about an hour of them being patient with me jumping in and out of game like 30 times i finally get on teamspeak.i would never be the same after that. here i was, dueling the likes of hardwired, virtue, vlad, sednox, kenyon, furious, and aphex and getting my ass handed to me, not to mention the ribbing i was getting in voice from hardwired and virtue and sometimes a guy named carve would show up to join in on it too. im telling ya its a great test of character to take the teasing i was enduring in teamspeak. but we all got along famously and that was a small price to pay to hang with some seasoned ja members and talk. and thats where my phrase "now you must die!!" came to life. as i was getting pummelled by these guys i would have lil temper bursts so i would calm them with humor to make it fun and i scared virtue when i challenged him to a duel and said in a scary voice "alright virtue NOW YOU MUST DIE!!" which was followed by a "omg you sounded mean just then motrec"from virtue and we all laughed and i lost.we also got treated to "acey's hour" acey spadey's ts radio which played awesome songs and acey sang a song for me for my very first acey's hour. we would also get special guest singers like smily krazy to sing us songs.man i tell ya those were some fun ass days for me. here i was all these new friends just hangin on ts and the servers. ts is where i met furious, hardwired, virtue,smily krazy,garos, acey spadey,...ah man the list in itself is another thread. im not even up to my time when i first became a knight and there is a long way between here and there so if you guys would like a weekly read on "MOTREC's JA journey" then say so here. but for those of you who dont and i thank you for getting this far, my moral is this for this week...dont jump on the servers with a "im the best" attitude jump on with a "im the best friend ill ever be" attitude and just have fun and make friends i garuntee you will never for a second regret it. thanks guys and as always...
