I just finished watching the Matrix a few minutes back... Maybe he was in a situation where he was about to be kiled by an agent, but the phone rang and he could go back to the real world? Makes sense to me... Quite a desperate situation, and there's no cause to live. SO he heard the phone, and thought "What the heck, I can live!" and picked it up and wasn't killed by the agent. _______________ - Shadow Warrior |

probably, but lets say its the roof of the empire state building or an equal high house. you would not survive the impact. plus, a ringing phone couldnt clear the fire....

K, here's my guess:
He was a musician or something, and lost his hearing, temporarily I guess. Since he's not able to hear, which would end his music career, he jumps off the building. On his way down, he hears the phone ring and says "Damn!"
