I still say that mine is a valid answer. It may not be the one the riddle is made for, but it still does fit the criteria for the way the riddle is written. True that Fonz's is right though.

And there is actually two way to do Fonz's. You could remove the second t and have the word starling. The others still follow the same.

Ah but Fizz you must understand a riddle to solve it Read it again:

There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?
and not removing the last letter, but A letter.

Now you must analyze it. The idea of riddles are meant to confuse you, give you information you don't need. Give you simple clues in complex ways. This is very similar to the GRY riddle where that answer is Language because the third word in "The English Language" is language. So you can ignore the 9 letter word part. The key is this sentence "Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word" that sentence says each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an english word. Which is true since because if you remove T from IT, I is still a word. And even using the 9 letter word. No matter how many letters you remove from that word, "IT" still remains an English word. That's what I think is the trick to this riddle. And notice the actual question. What are the words that it becomes when you remove one letter at a time. Well when you remove one letter from IT, It becomes I.

Lord Jaws asked it, and if he doesn't know the answer then I claim that I am correct in my logic and thinking, because you can't really disprove me.

Lord Jaws I believe the answer to your riddle is the word "IT" When you remove one letter from it, it becomes I which is also an English word. The 9 letter part is just to throw you off. This is similar to the -GRY riddle.

Jedi_Wing, I don't think that's a riddle.
