what romance. Anikin was just a deranged stalker who follwed Pademe around being all creepy until she finally gave in (or he did mind trick) and she recieted cheesey scripted lines. then there was a kick ass fight scene, the end. _______________ "We keep odd hours...." ----------------------- They Live, We Sleep |

I don't think that bringin' the Force into balance means that there should be an equal number of Jedi's and Sith's. I think it is done by destroying the Sith. In Ep2 Mace and Yoda are talking about the Dark Side clouding their sight in the Force, but meanwhile Palpatine has already started his plan before Ep1. In Ep6 Palpatine even says: "Everything is proceeding as I have forseen it!" Thereby I don't see it as balance that there is 2 Jedi's and 2 Sith. The two Jedi's would be clouded in their mind, and the two Sith's would have the power to see clearly.
Yoda would clearly have been found by Vader and Palpatine if he had hid anywhere else then on Dagobah. Luckily, there was a great source of evil -the cave that Luke goes into, and fights himself!- which equals Yoda's imensive good powers, so that it seemed to the Sith that there was nothing on Dagobah! That is the only time that there was a somewhat balance between evil and good! _______________ Not back yet... I'll come one day, I hope... The madman formerly (and still) known as Tito! In my opinion, the balance reffered to is the balance between good and evil, dark and light.
Therefore, with there only being two Sith and many Jedi, the slaughter of all but two Jedi would bring the force back into balance thereby fulfilling the prophecy. It's never really mentioned that what Anakin would do would be good or bad. Only that he would bring balance to the force. It may be that Qui Gon did notice that Shmi was lying but but did not see fit to challenge her at that time. Or, another thought, perhaps she genuinely did not know the identity of the father. Though that's even more far fetched. I agree that the whole father/revelation thing may be a little to similar to the original trilogy. At this point there are many more questions than answers, particularly regarding Palpatine/Sidious. Where did he come from? Who trained him? I love speculation don't you? |

ARGH!!! If killin Palpatine (thereby erasing the scourges of the Sith) makes u The Chosen One (no, not the -cool- JA mod maker), then in EU, Han Solo must be The Chosen One... He kills Palpatine the third time, then the spirit of Palpatine dies for etternity! _______________ Not back yet... I'll come one day, I hope... The madman formerly (and still) known as Tito! Then Anakin isn't the Chosen one and won't bring balance to the Force. How would you know what his bringing balance to the Force would be. The Jedi think balance would be a good thing and I don't think the killing of all or almost all Jedi would be viewed as a good thing by them. He brought true balance by killing Palpatine thus ending the cloud that the darkside was bringing. The fact that Luke's father was killed wasn't a lie. Never forget that. It was the truth from a certain point of view. Don't you think Qui Gon would have been able to tell if Shmi was lieing about there not being a father? He'd be making sure that her thoughts weren't telling her something different than her words. He had the thoughts that he could be the chosen one from that moment. And also if there's some big new fact that anakins father is someone that will just further prove to me that the prequels are simply a twisted mutated version of the original trilogy. _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. Firstly, Its already been revealed in ep1, not two eps before ep5. It's been spelled out quite clearly from the start that Anakin is Vader, his second name is Skywalker. He will bring balance to the force. Since there are only two Sith the only way to do that would be to kill off lots of jedi and we all know who's responsible for that.
"Ignorant" to the "fact" that there is no mystery to Anakins parentage? I'm not aware of any such fact. That he was fathered by the force? You don't really believe that horseshit do you? Are you forgetting the "fact" that Luke was told his father was killed? That little "fact" turned out to be a lie. Just as Anakins mother lied to protect her son. |
Buzz - Student |
You know I figured people would stop being ignorant about the fact that there is no mystery to Anakin's parentage. For him to be the Chosen One means his father was the Force. As stated in Episode 1. That wasn't the only magic of Empire Strikes Back but it was a big revelation. And its the same argument for the Hyperspace streaks. We all know it happens but he's not putting it in the prequels. So why put in the Prequels something that would make the revelation on Bespin not only a plot twist for Luke but a plot twist for the entire audience as it was meant to be. I unfortunately knew the facts before seeing Empire for the first time, but how many of those lucky enough to be shocked by it thought that the only reason Vader was obsessed with finding Luke is because of his powers in the Force and his destroying of the Death Star. Do you really want that ruined by recealing the fact 2 chapters earlier? _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. Excellent point Buzz but I don't think it will ruin the magic of ep5. The folks that haven't seen the original trilogy are few and far between and for any of those few who do watch them from 1-6 for the first time they'll still be excellent movies. Its just that Vaders identity will only come as a shock to Luke and not the audience. Lets face it, that's not the only reason ep5 was magic was it?
Besides, I'm hoping that revelation will be replaced by another in ep3. Just who is Anakins father? Dooku? Sidious? Is Anakin a clone? Who knows. |

So you don't think that if Its blatantly obvious to everyone that anakin becomes darth vader in episode 3 that won't ruin the magic of episode 5 _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. I was at the official Star Wars site and read the latest Jedi Council question I'll post the question and answer:
Q:Why haven't we seen the stars stretch into lines when a ship jumps to hyperspace in the prequel trilogy? A:For the definitive answer, we turn to none other than George Lucas himself. Here's what he had to say: "I think of the series as one movie. In order to keep the impact of the hyperspace jump in Episode IV, I have decided not to use it in the first three films. If you're watching them from one to six, you'll get the same thrill." Now if he thinks of these movies all as one series and he wants the effect of things you see in the original trilogy to stay in there and not bleed over, I think that damn well better mean that he has a way for us to not know that anakin is the one that becomes darth vader in episode 3. That way the impact of vader telling to to Luke stays in episode V where it should be. If it doesn't then george lucas is a worthless story teller that can only get things half right. _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. But they could have been done better. Star Wars introduced major characters too. Other movies have to introduce major characters and still have the movie be good. Why should Episode 1 only have set up the major characters. What if every movie did that? "Ok we've got this great idea for a movie. Its going to be moving inspiring. Everyone is going to love the action and adventure in it. It will just blow their minds......But first we need to make another movie to introduce all the major characters before we get to the good stuff." Wouldn't you just love that _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. OK, i agree that ep1 was crud and embarassing in most parts. Unfortunately, it was neccesary to establish the major charcters and the story ine that the next two films would continue. How annoyed would everyone be if ep2 tarted and all the major charcters had to intro'd AGAIN!
"Yes we knoe Obi wan is, move on!" "OK ok ok Anakin WE KNOW THIS!!" see what i mean? Since ep1 established all the essential info, eps 2 and 3 can move on and just continue the story, blowing shit up, slashing people in half, turnig people against their own lovers and other such, family oriented things |

Actually, I like Jar Jar Binks, but that'sa girls for yousa.
Some people like him (including me) and many others don't. But that's how things are. If you say that Jar Jar was the worst thing to happen to Star Wars, there was this thing I read that really happened. Chewie's daddy (before he died) was all... weird.. and stuff. He had this one lady, and he could get any wish (this is from my memory) and he used her as his SEX MACHINE. Watching this, everybody burned their disco-themed R2D2 t-shirts, and this was before Mr. George Lucas (mr?) thought that Star Wars was going to be so big. Well, the action in Ep. 1 & 2 was good, the characters were fine, but Episode 2 was overly dramatic, and the person who did Anakin could not act. I like either Ep 1, 2, or 6 the best. Episode 6's storyline is in high quality, but less action, and Ep 1 and 2 are sort of low in quality, but high in action, so.... hmm... Yub Yub, Ewoks, Jar Jar, Gungans... Well I guess I like those 3 all the same. EDIT And I agree with FireFreeze. The love between Leia and Han Solo is good, but between Anakin and Padme is not so good. Plus Anakin's bad acting. Also the love between Leia and Han Solo is funny. "I'm sure Luke wasn't on that thing when it blew." "He wasn't.. I can feel it." "You love him... don't you?" "...Yes." "Okay. I understand. Fine. When he gets back.. I'm not going to get in the way." "Ohoh, it's not like that.... He's my brother." Kissy kissy lovey gooey goo. And then Han smiles. And in Episode 2, Padme's eyes are all weird. "I'm not afraid to die. I've been dying a little bit everyday since you came back into my life. Before we die, I want you to know that I truly, deeply love you." Where's the comedy there?! Oh well. Too much brotherly and sisterly HIPPY!!-ly love in Episode 2. _______________ slorp This comment was edited by Lian Del Rey on Feb 26 2003 08:30pm. |

Ep 1 & 2 were both $***. The first 3 moveis were cool, and the only good thing in the new ones are the fights. The acting is pretty crap, Java guy has a point there and too much badly done love. |

Jar Jar is the WORST thing that could EVER happen to Star Wars. A few other things in Ep. 1 is alslo very bad. Ep. 2, i think, is much better than Ep. 1, but it's to much luv out there, 80% of the movie is love, and other romantic lame no-good [UGH]. But that's my little mind's idea of what's bad with the movies. But both have some good fighting.....Darth Maul......Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus (or whatever) This comment was edited by Rampage on Jan 24 2003 07:47am. |

The clone troopers were supposedly top-notch soldiers, yet in heavy ground combat they walked upright into enemy fire. Real soldiers don't make big targets of themselves. They lay down shoot from behind cover where possible.
I could go on and on about the things wrong with the battle in Episode I, but let me just say this: It is absolutely not believable that an advanced civilization, capable of building droids of the kind in the movie, would build a droid army that just shuts down when its flagship is destroyed. No way. _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |

Yeah, I'm gonna repeat what....someone said (can't rem who it was)
Admiral Ozzel came out of H-space too early, which meant that the rebels were alerted and had time to knock their shields into action; this rendered the Imperial ships utterly useless (They were actually planning to incinerate the base from space) but then when Vader heard the news he dealt with Ozzel appropriately and then said. "Commander Veers, prepare your troops for a surface attack" This indicates to me that the massive ground assault was the Empires plan B. Also...someone (god, my short term memory regarding names sux) U said that the AT AT's just waltzed behind the shields so why couldn't the Empire's bombardment make it passed; well, go back to Ep1, same deal, lasers and bombardememnt can't get through the shields, but slow moving troops can just pass through easily. Well thats the end of my ramble post |
