Whoa ... had to back pedal to find this old thread. *dusts it off*
Just watched Highlander on the telly. Havn't seen it for years and years. Loved it when I was a kid. Sadly, it seems very dated nowadays. The sword fights are easily eclipsed by Ep1 and even by the old Errol Flynn Robin Hood flick. The actual plot is shaky as all hell, ok here's the immortals and here's the gathering oh! the gathering's here already! Here's a few swordfights which keep on ending in a stalemate to drag out the film ... having said that the dialouge and acting is pretty well done. (nearly the oppasite of EPs 1 and 2 where you have good plot, but terrible dialouge and shody acting in the two guys playing the main character) There's some very cool visuals (Conner and Connery (he's a Spainard with a Scottish accent??) fighting on top of a cliff, heaps of sweeping camera pans around shilouetted (sp!) sword fights), there's a sweaty love scene, and the basic idea is very very cool. Next to Highlander 2 (which I vaguely remember) it's a freaking masterpiece of course. Did they screw up or what with this? I've been told the other films are crap as well. You can't have sequals to a film that is basically about the end of a story. Really, it should have been a Star Wars setup with prequels following the first one. Hey, I guess it was the eighties, everyone was high on coke. Bah. Now I've gone and written a godamn essay about something that doesn't really matter. I'm so embaressed. *runs off to the cellar screaming: "Don't look at me! Look away!" _______________ "Negative. I am a meat popsicle." |

Nice one! I liked all the Monty Python movies. If you've never seen it, check out ...and Now for Something Completely Different. It's basically just a bunch of skits, no real plotline or anything. Funny stuff!
