Can someone close this thread, its getting alot of people worked up over nothing... in my oppinion.. saying your an 'oldbie' at something makes them feel like they have to try to play the thing for years on end so they can match up to you... same goes anyone who classes themselves as a Newbie.. in my oppinion your only a 'newbie' for about 3 minutes... thats when you first ever install the game and your getting used to the controls (anyone who calls them selves a n00b or calls someone else an oldbie is fine as long as its a joke with no harmful intent.. just.. be careful where you use it.. i've been called n00b a fair amount of times when i first started playing jk2 and during some later times of jk3 and it is hurtful) _______________ -Padawan of Virtue -Brother of Menaxia, *|irael, Krynn Adept, Majno, Ris Win Juljul, DaMi3N, Beowulf, Dash Starlight, Carrock and Yuken Zalak Bartender at Munes bar. Being called a 'noob' is insulting. A 'newbie', however, is someone new to a game or community, and is not an insult at all. Also, it really depends. I consider myself a midbie in this community, but an oldbie at the JK3 game (I was part of the first wave of JK3 players here, back when the servers were still running public maps - together with people like Odan Wei. That was fun!). A lot of the JAK+ joined the new game way after we did, but they were already well established in the community itself. To summarize: it's a complicated mess and not important anyway, so let's forget about it. |

from a philosophical point of view... being labeled a noob, newb, newbie is rarely a direct reflection of ones skill in a game as it is usually a label for someone new to the community or group that he/she plays with. Even the most venerable player could get called a noob for inappropriate behavior. What is a noob then? WE should say that a noob, such as myself, is someone eager to learn. So call me a noob I won't be affended. (open opportunity) Middies are the back bone of any organization. As the Oldies tend to control and govern and the newbs are out to have a good time the Mids are in the mix providing noobs with good strong teaching and advice. They also provide the oldies with information and recommendations concerning the community and its citizens. The Old ones are usually the ones that have done, and continue to do more than their fair share for the community. Get time out of the equation, since its relative anyways.
