this has become a nuisance again. leaving npc's on the home server. if you spawn them, you kill them. if you are caught doing this, i will lock down all the servers. thank you for you cooperation in this matter. thank you all. MOTREC |

Oh I agree, don't get me wrong here. I know it won't solve the problem, but it will keep the NPC's from roaming around like this. Perhaps a script in JAR that can be activated at wish, that when the server is empty, all NPC's are automatically killed? The thing is guys, the NPC blocking shader is not very effective, cannot be applied to the map now (unless you want to convince everybody to download the 20+ MB again) and doesn't fix one major problem that the NPCs cause: every NPC uses precious processing power. The rules say not to leave them, people shouldn't be leaving them, and if people can't live up to this simple expectation everyone will lose the privelige of having access to them on the servers. _______________ A wizard did it. |

Oooops sorry guys. Ithink I was guilty of something like this last night. I spawned an npc on wireplay, (far left door) and it didn't come out after me. I went back to the control pad thingy, and pressed it again. When the door opened for the second time, there were TWO behind the door. Only ONE came out! I killed it eventually, (after it killed me once) and left the room. I apologise to the next person who spawned an npc from that far left ?bunker. It won't happen again, I promise. Okay, I just finished locking down the NPC rooms on all servers. Obviously they are being abused and even after this post was made some people don't take it into consideration. Wow, today I visited both Home and Classes. On each server, I found an NPC just stood there in the NPC room. There was no one on Classes, and I didn't get much from the people on Home. These encounters are just becoming so frequent... |

I agree with this. Even I (who isn't very active) saw NPC's running loose But I was wondering though, since NPC's are supposed to stay in the NPC-area, can't Virtue put a BlockNPC-brush against the door, so they can't go through, while players can? (It could be that Virtue hasn't done this for a reason, but you never know  )Of course it won't solve the problem completely, but it will keep NPC's from running loose. Well, today I was on a server...can't remember if it was Home or Wireplay, but there were a lot of people spawning NPCs. Everytime I saw one spawned, two came out of the door, but I left the server before everyone had finished, so I dunno if they were all killed off. But recently, I have seen a big increase in the number of times I've seen NPCs running around. It's something like...every week. So yeah, it's gotta be annoying. |

yeah i've often walked into the npc room for health/shields or whatever and seen stray bots and bots still in their spawn rooms. i ask who was last in npc room and no one answers. please dont mistreat the facilities guys. _______________ I fite for teh usars!1 |

Agreed. This is somewhat of a big issue we've had laltely. I've even seen NPCs running around Vlad's memorial, along with others just running around the courtyard and other places. Most of you remember the big lockdown a few months ago I'm sure, where we locked the NPC rooms, fortress, and the memorial due to complete abuse of them. It can and will happen again if this is kept up. So, even if you aren't the one who spawned these NPCs or whatnot, do your best to kill them. If there are too many or if they are running around the memorial, come to IRC and get a JAT to hop on the server and do an npckillall. Don't just let it go. And if you see someone who is letting them out of the NPC complex, inform them they are breaking the rules and ask them nicely to kill it, and if you have to, assist them.
