Is there a way to fight high ping?
Is there a way to fight against someone with low ping when you have high ping?

Is there anyone who knows this...?
If there is anyone who knows please post it here.:)

Eh, I guess I should answer the topic question as well. :P

I fight with a ping of about 300 on the home and classes server, and with a ping of 400+ on the wireplay server. I spend sometimes a few hours a day playing. Sometimes I win a duel or two. Sometimes I shoot someone in the fort. Then I usually do a little dance. :P

How do you fight with a high ping? Well it's all just a matter of doing everything earlier (in theory, lets not get into how some servers work *sigh*). What you see on your screen can be broken into two groups. That which has already happened, and that which may happen in the future.

So to make things simple lets say you have a ping of 200, and you are engaged in a duel. Anything you see your opponent do happened on the server about 100msec (0.1 seconds) ago. Anything you do will probably happen on the server in 100msec. This means that you may see your saber pass through someone at a certain position and do no damage. Because you aren't actually seeing your saber and your oponent in the same timeframe. However if you can swing your saber where your opponent will be 200msec after you see them on your screen, then it will hit them. If you see your opponent swing, then that swing actually happened 100msec ago, and you just try not to have been there (sounds funny I know) so you don't get hit. In that sense you need to "guess" what your opponent is going to do, or put yourself in such a place that you can't be hit.

So here's what to do. Know how the game works. Know what would happen if you both had 0 ping. Then realise that you need to modify how you play to correct for your own high ping (don't worry about what your opponents ping is, that *shouldn't* matter). And just get on some servers and practice. With practice you will get a feel for it, and become a better player for it. Hope this helps, if you ever see me on a server, I can show you some of the in game techniques I use. Otherwise, just stick with it and have fun. :)

I use cl_timenudge for gunning/ctf sometimes (not always) and it can make aim prediction a little easier. However when it comes to saber dueling, or any saber combat for that matter I have it set to 0. This is because it does cause your opponent to appear to warp, and makes judgement of their swings and movement quite difficult.

I've done some research (google :P) and ppl are telling that using timenudge over 60 will cause strafing ppl to warp a lot... I havent tried this, but doesnt sound too good...

In Clan Base jk2 1vs1 rules timenudge should be between -20 to 20.

Well, with a ping around 150 you're not in a 'lot' of 'trouble'. I cant really tell where my opponent's lightsaber is, and i misjudge distance a lot, but thats because Im used 2 low ping timing ^^

Ive duelled people with pings higher than 150, like 200,300,400 or even 500 ping. I was at 35 myself at WP, and they still beat me around the mat. :) So you can be pretty effective with high pings, and even duel opponents at low ping.

That again, I may not be the best example of a capable enemy :P

Ahem - as for a reply that doesn't end up costing you money and waiting for ages to get stuff set up.
Turn off all programs and shut down all processes that you are not using while you play. Such as MSN, IRC etc (these don't really play a huge part in lag, but I suppose shutting them down can help a little with your ping).

As for processes, hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE and end all the processes that you know you don't need. If you are using Win 2000 or XP, it won't let you end processes that are critical to your computer's operation, so you don't need to worry about experimenting with them too much.

Then run some anti-spyware on your computer and get rid of all the nasty little cookies and trackers that are eating your bandwidth.
Just google for Adaware or Spybot: Search and Destroy. Both of these programs will help identify and eliminate spyware threats on your computer.

For super safety and a last resort, run a disc scan on your computer so that it fixes any program errors or whatever, then defragment your computer, then run an Anti-Virus, it's unlikely that you would have picked up a virus that is attempting to download new threats from other sources, but it's always good to be sure. :)

This should help some. :)

Good luck.

I'm assuming that this is Ma0s' normal distance ping, no matter the connection. But yeah, best to make sure you aren't downloading anything while you're playing, or you'll lag everywhere. As for the connection - it's good to have a decent one if you don't already, but if you can't get any higher, then no worries. :)

1. you should connect to server which is nearest to you.
2. turn off all downloads and stuff like that.
3. try to get better internet provider.

Well, if you have high ping, then your opponent isn't going to be exactly where you see. So, if it's around 300 - 400+, then I'd suggest trying to trace their footsteps, predict where they are going to move, then begin a swing or combo in the predicted direction as they make their swing or combo, and possibly getting it into one of the their open gaps, which should give them some fair/killer damage. :)
