I think some things are getting out of hand in the academy at the moment, lots of new people who havnt read the rules and so many other silly political things, I don't care to mention. However it may sound, they wouldn't get away with it if you had a rest. You're still able to report it to a JAK+ the next day. It really depends how offended you get. If you feel you're gonna do something stupid, then it's best to leave the server, jump into spectators, or whatever it takes to calm down. And if you can, I'd recommend taking a screenshot and/or condump of the situation before you do. |

IMO, if they make you leave the server, they have won, and will do it again. Best to just ignore them, they will get bored, and eventually leave themselves. But it's protection against yourself as well. I used to do it all the time when people upset me. And believe me, if I hadn't, I would've done things that might've gotten me banned. Patience is a powerful ally. Agreed. There have been times I've felt even just the slight bit upset and left the server, as it's hard to control your actions when you've got something annoying and upsetting on your mind. Sometimes, in these situations, it's best not to visit the servers again until you've had a nice long sleep to get it out of your system. |

O common - we get a thread like this every couple of months or so. People are just as respectful/disrespecful now as they always were. The thing is, we can't just kick people out for little mistakes here and there, if we did, we'd be no better than mose jk3 clans. People get their chances, and after enough screw ups we believe they are a danger to the peace, they will be kicked out. Those people come and go, its inevitable. I sincerly hope this not in conection with the odd FFA that is sometimes held by a certain few students (myself included)? Because if it is, then I remind you all of your own rules, "Respect other students", and "If everyone aggrees". All those involved in the FFA's are quite willing and in no way upset by them. They are fun, and a way of relieving certain stresses. In MY opinion, they are good now and again, and if someone doesn't want to join in, just go to another matrix. If these comments are directed at "laming", "bad mouthing" and general disrespect? Then I whole haertedly agree. The only problem I have with Gradius' comments is the last one I believe. i agree with jarhok and ozz...some common sense and respect would go a long way here, just remembering the rules and why they are there, to make sure everyones time at the academy is enjoyable and safe. (or at least thats why i think most of them are there) considering how other people might feel about your actions and how you conduct yourself could go a long way too.... if what your doing is detracting from other peoples enjoyment of the game, maybe it isn't such a nice thing to do? _______________ I fite for teh usars!1 |

Heh, it's not just the new players. The new members do need to read the rules, and learn to behave. However the older students should know better, and set an example. Usually all you see is the older students scolding the younger ones for misbehaving, when really they have enough knowledge and *hopefully* good nature to show them the right way, and be friendly about it. _______________ A wizard did it. |

Read our rules one more time...and also go over tye diffrent writings on respect and conduct we have here. Cause I will be returning to the servers after easter. We don't need people who go around specifically patroling the server other than JAK+. Your job as a student is to have fun. Now lets say your on the server, doing your job, having fun, and you see a guy who just wont stop laming, write down his name, what he did, try to get some evidence. As said, screenshots/condumps. Yeah, to all new students (or old students for that matter) who havent read the rules, go read the rules now. At this point, I am starting to get to the point where I dont even warn people. I agree with this 100%, and I was thinking about making a post about it, but looks like you beat me to it Jarhok. Guys, the JA is all about respect. Lately I've noticed a great lack of respect, especially on the Wireplay server. I won't point fingers, but I've received complaints from students about this. Even when I'm on the servers, I'm constantly having to ask people to stop acting like asses. There aren't as many JAK+ around as we would like at the moment, so most of the time there will only be one or two on the servers. But this isn't enough. We need the students to take action as well. What I mean by this is, as students, you are also asked to help keep the peace on the servers. This doesn't mean you have authority over other students, and it doesn't mean you can go around pretending to be a JAK+. Basically, you all have to work together on this. If someone is being a pain on the servers, and another student asks that person to stop, back them up on that. Don't just ignore it because you aren't the one being bothered by it. We're all friends here, and friends don't let eachother get upset over trivial things such as annoying people. Here's a list of steps I would like everyone to consider when someone is being a bother and there aren't any JAK+ around to handle it: 1. Politely ask that person to stop what they are doing that is causing problems. If you see someone following this step, and it's a reasonable request, take note of it and pay attention to the situation. Don't just ignore it. 2. If that person refuses to stop, politely ask them again to stop. If you are a bystander who witnesses this being asked a second time, step up and ask of the same thing, even if you're not a part of it. Don't be afraid to point someone towards the rules. 90% of all newer members don't read them and aren't sure if they are doing something wrong or not. 3. If the "troublemaker" still insists on causing problems, keep your cool. Ask them again if to stop, and let them know that if they do not, a JAK+ will be brought in to handle the situation accordingly. 4. If they still continue to be a bother, take a condump (/condump name.txt in console) of the situation, and screenshots if you have to. Then, go to IRC or MSN even and get a JAK+ to come in. If for some odd reason none are around at the time, hold on to the condump and screenshots and report them to a JAK+ when you get the chance. 5. If all else fails, leave the server. I know, this step sucks and it shouldn't have to come to this, but it's the best thing to do to keep you from getting upset and doing something that may get you into trouble as well. Now, these can be done for the smallest things. Be it trash talking other students, laming, or any other general disrespect of the rules.
