We have evaluated the Hall of Fame one by one, and have come to the conclusion that some people were there that should simply not have been there in the first place, or some were placed there for the wrong reasons. Having been a staff member does NOT guarantee a place in the Hall of Fame. The people who have been removed from the list have not been removed because they're not nice people; they simply have been removed because we want to start the Academy over, with one big aspect being the renewing of the staff, and HIGHLY upping our standards. This includes the Hall of Fame. The people who have been placed in it, have been re-evaluated to match the new standards, and some simply did not meet them in our viewpoint. We already expected some of these threads before we made the cleanup, but there there will be no restoration. This comment was edited by Aron on Apr 18 2005 10:18pm. |

Oh I wasn't trying to shoot anyone down for having an opinion. Far from it. I'm just tired of situations that generate alot of friction - I make a diplomatic and friendly post explaining why something happened and the facts behind it, yet most people seem to just ignore it and carry on with their pointless bickering. LoL, I swear, you people don't even read the posts we write out in response to your little rants. I'm going to say this one more time: Every JAK+ works to get their position. Each rank has a certain responsibility that they must keep to, most of whom are happy to do so. But it's not Hall of Fame Material to simply do the job that was required of you in the first place. Only people who truly made a difference are in the HoF. And as I said before, the people who were removed from the HoF did not do anything particularly special. They merely did their jobs as JAK+, which is something that is expected of all JAK+ anyways. - Virtue. _______________ Academy Architect |

Aaaaanyway, I agree that it used to be too easy to get in the HoF, but I think the cleanup is just a bit overdone... and I really can't agree with some of the people on that list, since I find it hard to see what they've done to be in there.. |

To me the Hall of Fame would be the last thing I would change if I were to renovate the Academy. I'm not sure if you remember it, Virtue, but it takes (or took) alot of effort to become a JAK and from there to JAT. That effort always included helping other members, assisting in classes and in general, investing alot of time in the Academy. Too bad you don't care about that anymore now. I'm also glad to see the Council so open to ideas and suggestions, and always willing to reconsider a decision they've made. Then again, that's just business as usual. i don't think the idea of a retired knight/trainer section is too bad of an idea (of course that list would explode come saturday, lol...hmmm, dunno). keep the HoF to what you guys want--a true honor, examples of great contributions that have been made to the academy. _______________ this is the internet, be serious damn it! |

To be honest, I think the new list is good. It confuses me that Yun and Merc are still there, though. I mean, Merc was one of the first JAT's, even though he never actually HELD his classes... and Yun hosted roleplaying classes and was a JAC for less than a week! Such long lasting contributions MUST be rewarded! Gimme a break. But yeah, guys like Huxley, Av, Legolas, JS, Vladarion, Apesex, etc... they all deserve to be there. Nope, I agree with Halendor on this (PS i still remember you! ). Some of the guys on the HoF were truly deserving to be on it. You're setting new criteria because you want to start the ja over? That's fine. But why can that not apply to FUTURE recipients of that honour? You're basically saying, "Hi, you have done much for the ja. We appreciate your dedication and the hard work that you have put in. However, we feel that under our new standards, you suck. Have a nice day." I can't remember every single person from the HoF actually :/ but people like FaDed really deserved to be on it. It's a shame when you don't even want to remember the people that brought you to where you are today.
