I posted this comment on the news page, but I felt it would get better visibility here: You know, a large number of us, at times 8 or more and at least half of them JAK+ have been playing Instagib on MOTREC's server. It went on for at least 3-4 months (it slowed down after MOTREC wasn't able to be on 24/7.) JAK+ involved were MOTREC, Shadowsith, Gradius, Tido, and 3th regularly. There were some honorable mentions who did not play so regular, like Hardwired, SmilyKrazy, and if memory holds Virtue was there more than a few times. Sure, this may have made the home server a little scarce, but it was a hellava lot o' fun. We played all night until MOTREC went to bed. I wouldn't say these JAK+ were inactive, they were just teaching us to play Insta. Insta takes a long time to get good at so we all became very addicted to it. ShadowSith gave us quite a run for the money and some of us who sucked at first just kick arse at it now, so mission accomplished. Please factor this in before hard earned titles are stripped from people who have been doing their job and doing it quite well. _______________ Gone but hopefully not forgotten... |

Its not on the JA CTF server just yet... Should be either late tonight, or tomorrow at the ealiest... i think its unfortunate that people used this thread to voice opinions in such a way, no ones forcing you to play instagib, if you don't like it, hang out on the home server and have fun with friends there. if you do, come hang out on there with the TS krew and have some fun _______________ I fite for teh usars!1 |

Although it just dawned upon me how the strafe jump and the jump they did on xbox live are related. on xbox live you would jumo forward and strafe left and right. In teh strafe jumping you rjumping sideways , but slowly re aligning you self in teh straight path, but because of hte diagonal movement, and inproper physics in the engine you get extra distance. When we strafe back and fourt, we basicly had the power of a partial strafe jump... Okay, you know what? All this bickering needs to stop right now. This thread wasn't made for disputing wether or not you like instagib. Some people asked what it was, we explained. If you don't like it, fine, don't play it, but don't dispute it ehre saying it's stupid and blah blah blah. That's not what this thread was intended to be. It is a part of the Quake 3 engine, and it was probably a known thing when the Quake 3 engine was used for JK2 (and JK3 definately). Anyway, its used compteively. The three keys are most probably Strafe + Forward and then you tap Jump _______________ ------------------------ |

I would like to rebuke ymy self, I quickly checked the holocron and so the strafe jumping technique (why does my brain think its an exploit, I mean why woud slowly turning 45 degress make you move farther, or does the academy not care about exploits, or simply not care about this one?) Also like I said I GET NO ADRENALINE (sorry for the CAPS ) It actauly extremely peve me off having everyone runnign around extremely fast bunny hoping shooting a straight beam of death which does not even travel (mainly the running around really fast bunny hoping ticks me off) Its not that its easy, in fact thats teh problem, its that the FPS or my computer's speed will not sync the graphics of you moving that fast and that I have to shoot randomly guessing where your going to be in teh next second (since my reflexes are a world record low) It ticked me off so badly yesterday in halo when everyone was rapidly jumping up and down, my opiong jumping around should make you an easy target and that you should die right away, of course that is not the case. Which is why i do not like it. Oh and you can run for your life while peopel tail you without it being instagib, in any game, even halo you can run for your life as you move slow, while star wars you can still slap on speed an do the jumps and everything in normal mode. The fact is I don't like frantic running around and jumping.. that is what through me off in UC 2 for xbox, everyone jsut goes around bunny hoping shoot rockets at your feet and it is so pointless and boring. I mean in splinter cell you can do the run for you life thing and that is a stealth, non fast paced game. Yes of course it is hard to shoot them, you only get a certain amount of FPS, so basicly graphics wise they skip from location to location. ( to most people it just looks like they are moving really fast and the trail the leave behind is a blur, when really it was previous images of them, then again that is what blurrs are I guess) I never did like FPS based on aim... ( that may sound stupid, but its kind of complicated ) and since it is location all it is really is just keeping your cursor on them, while you franticly jump around... also how is 'stafe jump' even consider a technique, your just jump stafing. ( I think I have just realized why you can not jump on the rainbow six games ) If course you wanna know the fastest routes, or the routes they don't expect you to come in, but that is also how it is in any CTF game of any game. When I am bored, I might give it a try, but that won't be a while saying I havn't even gotten the change to go on the home server. On the other hand, the more I think and read about the game type, the more it sounds like I am not going to like it.
