You guys seriously need new Forums, this stuff sucks. Its the most retarded forum system made. http://www.phpbb.com/ If you want to see a modded version check the ones I use on my forums http://www.mastersofthelightsabre.com/forums If you are using this forum system to keep people from posting on your forums its working. I come on your servers from time to time but these forums just plain suck. I know there are intellegent ppl who come here from time to time, cant they make some ones people will actually visit? Come on WHY are you using this forum system when its just plain lame. |

WHY is this forum system lame? There is NO reason why this forum layout is any worse than anything else, and tbh it's probably better. And I think your forums look awful. I saw this earlier, and it was locked after Aron's post, so I assumed he changed his mind, and edited his post. In any case, I think this should be locked. The guy probably knows that everyone thinks that he's a moron now, and all we're going to see is more flames. Somebody lock it! |

Mm, phpBB isn't that good anyway. The code is sloppy and it bogs down the SQL server like crazy on higher user loads. Even Invision has better results and I'm not too fond of that either. I've been a forum administrator for six years (currently using Vbulletin), and instead of hacking my packages for new features, I hack them to remove useless ones. I quickly learned simplicity and effective structuring is the way to go when doing community design, and most jack-of all-trades-forum-packages have everything but the kitchen sink. A lot of younger people see it as some kind of gadget to experiment with - it's just a medium for your members to communicate. I never saw the source code for this forum - DJ says some parts aren't optimized because he programmed this a long time ago and he learned some new tricks - but the design is really good. It's simple, it's fast, it's even XHTML (hooray!). The members who have angrily replied here aren't mad because you're kind of being an asshole (although I'm sure that's a factor), they're being angry because we're all very proud of our website. It's what's been holding us together for years now, and DJ did a great job giving us something unique and effective. So thanks, but no thanks. Oooooooh my...you've done it, Solaas... Imagine this: someone gives you a 80 kg rock and tells you to carry it up and down a LOOOONG, STEEP slope 9782149823497824978 times. No matter how fast you do it, you have that person standing behind you telling you to go faster, faster FASTER! Does that sound tiring? Wouldn't you just like to throw that rock in the face of that annoying bastard? Well, imagine how much fun DJ Sith had making this forum. This guy is, as far as I know, absolutely brilliant with stuff like webdesign and computers in general! But surely he had some annoying moments and tough times making these awesome forums. Not to mention the enormous community that is the Jedi Academy waiting, some more patiently than others, for a place to exchange opinions. I REALLY don't think you should make a mockery of these forums. You simply humiliate yourself, and step all over DJ's hard work and dedication to our wonderful community. Like almost everyone else before me has said: these forums serve their purpose! I, for one, have never EVER had any problems with them. Besides, lots of unnecessary stuff and flashy colors really don't make it easy to read posts and whatnot. yep I agree that the forum the academy use is unqiue. Heres why it's unique dude: 1.The forums your clan uses is the most common forum setup almost every clan uses. 2.it's alot easier to set things up and use commands here in the academy forums. 3.DJ_Sith put his Soul into this to make this website and it's forums as great as possible 4.DJ_Siths forum is a custom made one he made himself so unless you have some sudjestions then this post is like throwing a match in to a can of keroscene. I hope the next time you utter a word, it won't be in the same way, because if you find me in the same mood as I am currently in, your account will most likely be disabled. Quality does not equal quantity. Does PHPBB2 have more features? Sure. Do we need them? No, not at all. Kevin put a LOT of work in this website and these forums, and just a friendly reminder: they have been coded from scratch and are fully implemented in the website. No matter what your opinion might be, you should simply have more respect for someone that actually put a LOT of effort in this, instead of unzipping a package and clicking "install". My personal opinion, and I mean no offence to anyone by this, but I think that all the generic phpBB type forums are boring, prepackaged, and full of useless junk and loose ends. Maybe you don't like the site and the forums we have here. But they're the best I have seen, and I like them the way they are to be honest. Sure there are a few minor bugs and features that maybe aren't implemented to the best potential. But it's a lot better than the sea of newbie phpBB generic junk forums I see popping up everwhere.
