First of all I don't want to call any names here, and point the finger, but read through it and think about it!
Today I was the first class i held, after we got rid of the point system. I was really looking forward to this class, since i thought there will be only ppl who really want to learn what i have to show em. (Force powers for beginners) So the problem was this, first we (JAT's) have no admin powers on the NL server, secondly some think they don't have to behave, since they won't get any point at all. Most of you know this is true, but it's sad. Don't get me wrong I like teaching and i is fun doing so. But i fu***** hate it, if some idiots spoil the whole experience for the others. It takes out the fun for me and for the other studentns, and thats the point where i take this personally. This whole game and a huge part of the JA is about having fun. If some brightass takes the fun out for others, by not behaving the way he should, he has lost any right for me. Next time I will keep track of those who keep bugging me/other students while classes and simply deny them any access to my classes until they proove themself worthy again. I know i held a theroetical class, and listening to someone for half an hour can be boring. I say CAN! I mean why did they come anyway? I've told everyone they are free to leave anytime they want if they expected something else... I mean HEY! U took the class because U wanted to, no one forced you to do so. If you don't like being told what to do, stick to puplic servers, or stay in JA and keep with duels. -a pissed Shannon P.s. What are your thoughts, experiences on this whole thing? I know on other servers you can just kick/sleep em, but I don't get the point why we do have to do this. See i work with mentaly and physiclay disabled kids all the week and sometimes on the weekends too, and even some of them have more 'social intelligence' than some studends here. _______________ Falling from heaven is not as painfull, as surviving the impact. Doppel I wasn't talking about the JAT's teleporting. Trust me that's nothing compared to other servers. the JAT's only tend to teleport when they are dueling and want to get back to the room to duel. I think most people here are respectful and behave themselves. I think it's mostly the people that are either new or just plain don't give a rat's ass (who would want to receive one?). A couple of classes I took, there were people just asking the JAT while he was working with other students, "Teacher, when are we gonna duel, I'm bored." or something similar. This same person was going aroung doing his taunt, holding his sabre against other people, etc. And now I haven't seen him/her since the class. Perhaps just putting a little reminder about how to behave in class when the JAT isn't working with you at that particular moment might help.
My 2¢ (if I keep giving 2¢, I'm gonna be even more poor in no time!  )

well, Buzz, Charon, I totally agree with both of you, I have never seen abusive use of admin powers on our serversm though. and If a JAT teleports, gah let him. he's a JAT.
dont give that too much meaning at all. well, its no wonder ppl got no common sense, just lok outside, not even to other countries, but at your neighbourhood, ur city. Well Buzz you make a good point for our servers as well. I have watched to many people taking advantage of admin powers on our servers. Teleporting like they are too good to get around like everyone else. Some individuals have become far to lazy to simple press forward and move their mouse from side to side to get to the room they want to be in. It's sad that we see them do that with respectable titles attached to their names.
Now for some common sense! Not many people have common sense these days. It's something they need to learn. You learn it by making mistakes and understanding what you did wrong. If no one is around to show you that you can not behave the way you do and get by with it then that person will not learn. We must give everyone the chance to change and learn. I'm only suggesting that JATs not be put in a situation were things get out of control and there's nothing that can be done about it on the spot.

Alot of this seems to be riding on the disappearance of the points system. Fizz was worried about it, many of us were optimistic though, well, in all cases like this, we were all correct. Well, I'll make this pretty forward, students, the Knights and the Trainers are watching, and just because it's not recorded on the site, doesn't mean it's not recorded.
Those of us you who just want to rank up, with no path leading to that goal, are missing the point of acheiving a goal. That point is the path along the way, not the reward or realization. I don't mean to set Knights and Trainers above and apart from everyone else with this, but like I just mentioned; Those of us who are Knights, are Knights not because we earned the points for it, not because we know everything there is to learn here, and certianly not because we deserve, or ask for the power and responsibility that comes along with it. Each of these points has both it's light and dark side, like everything. I am a Knight here because it's been in me the entire time; but it's in all of you, if you learn to let it show. No, I don't have the answer to every question; No, I don't win every duel, and; No, I'm not asking to be used as an example of what you should be, or asking you to look at anyone else as an example either. Look to yourself, and be your best, not because you can be punished if you don't, not because you no longer have points to compare. i think you all have missed the point of this thread. it's title is "a plea to common sense," not "let's come up with a solution to disruptive students." the whole purpose of this thread is not to come up with methods of punishment or to discourage misbehaviour. shannon has posted this in order to ask us all to use our better judgement when it comes to the way we act in class and on the servers. if we would all take this to heart and do our best to behave, there would not be any need for punishment. |

That was just on the NL server, that's something that can be fixed eventually I believe. So if the JAT's don't have powers there what good is it going to do to give more people access to powers that they can't use there. I wasn't just talking about this one situation shannon had. Have you ever gone onto a public server where 10 of the people all have admin powers and are using them. There is so much teleporting going on its stupid, and that was on bespin streets, one of the most basic maps there are. well, this seems the only solution here, as well. The people in that class will hopefully have noticed that they have raised quite some attention.

I like the idea about denying the troublemakers access to the JA(servers, forums & chat) for a little while. It's kinda like in hockey when they send the players to the penalty box for 2 minutes. It's not foolproof, but I don't think anything is. By doing that, you'll also get rid of the people who post in the forums complaining that they got kicked or whatever.

Yeah Fizz, I remember a class or two like that with you and me.
I'm sorry for the trouble Shannon, but I must say that I think it's time for some of the disruptive students to be subject to disciplinary action. If somebody is gonna have so much trouble paying attention is class, they should leave or be kicked. Classes are voluntary again, that means you signed up cause you wanted to be there. If you can't handle being there, then get the f*** out cause your taking spaces away from students that do want to be there and will stay for the class and not be a nuisance to others. _______________ Death is only the beginning. |

doppel, do you want it to be like clan servers though where you have 10 people with admin powers and only 2 without them? The knights and trainers have the admin powers and that enough. Well, I think it's a shame that people come to these servers (which were founded for peaceful gameplay) and wreak havoc. This gift that was given to us all should be protected at all cost. We have rules and policing systems in the real world to control evil doers against those of us whom wish only to have the most fulfilled of lives. So why are so many people aloud to continue to spoil this gift? It is time for the Council to consider a few more trusted individuals to have admin powers. It is the only way we can truly maintain peace. Aeth I think he would have if he could. He stated that the NL server doesn't have the admin powers for the JAT's so he didn't have that option available to him. i havent read all the discussion, but i have only one advice for you, shan
silence and sleep the class at the beginning. it doesnt hurt too much, and can be a nice präventiv schlag

But, seriously, what to do about those ? I mean lack of admin powers at NL is a problem, too. U could just kick those who act dumb, for the others as an example as well. people trying to build a tower in the middle of the room using emotes and then get stuck and vry for help i say let them be stuck then they cant screw anything else up |
