And yeah, now you've probably chosen to follow the path in hope of reaching JAK+hood i'm assuming. Before you start your long and likely never-ending journey, please consider what it means to be a JAK beforehand. A JAK is not a title to prove you have the skill to teach others, no, it is very different here at the JA.

To begin with, your main role is to act as an enforcer and general over-seer of ongoing events here at the Academy and keep the hierarchy informed. As well as this, you would also need to be competent enough to responisbly use the priviledges you receive as a knight. This requires both maturity and good insight, such as looking deeper into situations and not just insta-banning Masta for being too leet. At first this sounds awesome, and you may think to yourself, "Well, that sounds awesome! I can handle that." Think harder again, to be sure. At times it isn't a hassle, but at other times you'll get fools, let's use the example Kain, running about the place starting fires and rebellion and whatnot. Now, Kain is only having a bit of fun, however what he doesn't realise is that he may be producing a side effect of negatively imposing on the fun of others and disrupting the usual order of the JA, or giving off a false impression to those who don't know him. Situations like these can be a pain to deal with, and your going to have to be strict. Kindness won't do, some people just won't listen. As well as this, in time it is inevitable you will earn friends here at the JA, but what if they too step out of line? Your going to have to explain to them their wrongs of the JA. Sometimes, it'll be a polite reminder, although on occassion it can be a tough dirty job.

Moving on, you will also likely be teaching a class I presume, being an adept of JA and wishing to pass on your skills. Therefore, you would ask the hierarchy to place your class on the classes page. This bit sounds like the real gold yeah? True. The feeling you get when your teachings are appreciated is awesome, and you wan't to continue teaching due to it. Everyone's happy. However, classes almost never run smoothly. No. As many times as you tell them, people may not sit still, or feel the need to comment on almost every line spoken by yourself, which although relevant is not required and takes away from the time in your class, or provokes other distractions. Your going to have to tell these people off, and in some cases watch their young smiles of happyness turn to "=(". No one ever said it was going be pretty. Also, you may have late comers to your class, say, 20 minutes late. What if you've just spent those previous 20 minutes teaching a technique to the students who didn't show up late, and are now issuing practise of it? This guy's going to be quite clueless if he isn't already familiar with your class or the move. I ask you now, what would you do in this situation? Do you take him aside and let the other students practise on their own and teach him in the time they practise, or turn him down so as you can keep a keen eye on the practise of your students to ensure they don't pick up bad habits which are hard to iron out early on in the progression of their styles? This can be a difficult decision for some who don't like to turn down individuals, however in this case i'm afraid it must be done. Why? Well, regardless of the latecomers reason for lateness, those other students went out of their way to show up on time, they deserve the attenttion in my opinion. But hey, that doesn't mean you can have a 1on1 session with the latecomer another time right? As well as these, your going to have the people with ants in their pants. The ones who feel the inexplicable urge to wallrun as soon as you's hit a matrix room for practise. The ones who must jump on another players head, or run about randomly swinging their saber. Your going to have to tell these guys off too. There's more attention lost on the topic at hand, and time for teaching lost.

Forums. A member of the JAK+ is also going to need to be active on the forums, and perhaps other methods of communication such as mIRC could be beneficial in many ways. You will need to be up to date with ongoing issues of discussion and now and again offer a helping hand to those crying out for it, because after all that is your job. You may also receive numerous requests for padawanship because everyone wants a master to learn from, a teacher to show them the right path, so as one day they can finally rival the skill of the master. However, you can't have too many padawans. How could you juggle your real life, classes, forum checking, and other padawans if you had groups of them? No, the relationship could never be close enough to be in the nature of master-padawan with that many, you'd fall out of sync with individuals inevitably.

JAK+ Etiquette. "Hey there role model, I wana be just like you one day." As a member of the JAK+, you are going to influence those who lack status and recognition around you, as well as many others. You represent how students of the JA should aspire to be. Fair play you may think... being looked up to and all that, but this also entails extreme responsibility. This may restrict how you would naturally act otherwise in certain situations which are shadowed by the rules, or perhaps an "unwritten rule" and cast a gray area. Role models should never risk setting a bad example.

And after a brief pause there, i've lost my point of thought, heh. Well, I think I covered most things which I felt needed to expressed. I hope this gives you some insight to the path I assume you may be considering.
